Game changer for feeding time

I’ve been keeping reptiles for several years now, and I can confidently say that the Exo Terra Cricket Pen has completely revolutionized the way I store and handle feeder crickets. If you’re tired of crickets escaping, struggling with messy containers, or just looking for an easier, more efficient way to feed your pets, this little pen is exactly what you need. First off, the design is brilliant. The pen is compact, lightweight, and easy to move around. It’s perfectly sized for small collections or for hobbyists who keep just one or two pets. I personally use it for my leopard gecko and it comfortably holds enough crickets for a week or more depending on their appetite. The ventilation is excellent – crickets stay alive much longer than they did in the temporary plastic tubs I used before. I add a few bits of egg crate and keep them stocked with fresh veggies or cricket food, and they’re good to go. What really makes this product shine are the two dispensing tubes. These tubes make feeding almost effortless. When it’s time for a feeding, I just gently shake a few crickets into the tube, cap the end, and let my geckos hunt from there. The tubes are clear, so I can see how many I’m dispensing, and it minimizes any chances of escape. This is a huge plus, especially if you’ve ever spent 10 minutes chasing a rogue cricket around your room. The design is also more sanitary and less stressful for both the keeper and the crickets.

Well designed cricket pen.

Thus cricket pen was a well thought out product. There are spots for water and food, so your crickets last as long as you need them before becoming food themselves

Thus cricket pen was a well thought out product. There are spots for water and food, so your crickets last as long as you need them before becoming food themselves. There are 2 hollow chambers that the crickets crawl into, that then slide out of the pen, with a hinged door closing behind it so you don't have any escapees. You then dispense the crickets and replace the chamber. It is not very large unfortunately, so if you're keeping anything over maybe 35 - 50 crickets, this is probably not ideal for you.

I have 2 juvenial White's Tree Frogs and bought 50 small-sized crickets at a local pet store. It was a tight fit, but not terribly overcrowded. I provided them with food and water as recommended, and kept the tubes out except when looking to grab some for feeding (there are flaps here that should stay closed and be more secure than keeping the tubes in). Within TWO DAYS over HALF of my cricket population had escaped. I am now facing the real possibility that my landlord will fine me over the 25+ crickets loose in my apartment who have all the possibility in the world to reproduce and make an ongoing cricket population. I went to put the remaining crickets in the fridge to kill them off as a last ditch effort to control the situation and watched one jump straight through a ventilation hole in the top. Why make a cricket pen that doesn't hold in crickets??? Does contain dubia roaches nicely, but I do not recommend for any time of bug that can JUMP.

This cricket pen is awesome. I was reading some reviews that said the crickets escaped. Don’t see how that is possible. I’ve had mine for 2 weeks and, have 20 small crickets and not one has escaped! Love the sponge water dish, I watch them sit on it and drink. They drink a lot, remember to keep the sponge wet. The tubes are awesome! Makes feeding my salamander, so simple. Going to order another one so I can have something to put them in while cleaning out each pen. Highly recommend this. There was a small crack down the side, when I got it but I just covered it with clear packing tape. Hasn’t caused any issues.

So I had a 10 gallon tank for the crickets and dubia roaches. Some of the crickets would jump out. When I was taking them out to feed my lizard. Now it's just so easy. Take the tube out and slid them into a baggy with the calcium in it. Boom Done, love this thing. And it's big enough for me. I only use 2 of the 4 sticks it comes with. Because after I put the tube back in more crawl in.

Holy Crickets!!

Well, how did I do without this? The easiest way to feed crickets to our beardie! I put the whole carrier inside the enclosure,(dragon loves to watch them jump

Well, how did I do without this? The easiest way to feed crickets to our beardie! I put the whole carrier inside the enclosure,(dragon loves to watch them jump around) pop the tube out and feed. Crickets naturally crawl up the tubes, holds quite a bit. This carrier is not for housing but is great to hold about 20 large sized for a day. Easy to clean, none have escaped out of the tube flap. Just love this, it is a MUST have!

This really comes in handy for making sure my reptiles crickets are fully gut loaded the day before feeding. It came with a water and food dish that have ramps so the crickets can easily climb in and out. And bonus I dont have to worry about any of them jumping out and escaping! This has been a life saver for sure! The crickets just hang out in the tubes and I just shake them out into the enclosures.

Feeder Friend

Great container for crawling or hopping insects! I attempted to use it for blue bottle flies however they managed to escape but for sure ideal for crickets or dubia roaches. The angled feeding dish and water dish with sponge is probably my most favorite feature. Always had a hard time finding the best small container to hold enough food and water but still fit in the container and not spill. The size of the container is easy for storage and easy to clean. I didn’t get the chance to use the tubes yet but I imagine that is a very helpful feature especially with crickets. Overall good quality and would recommend to any needing something to keep feeder bugs in.

Good enough to buy load until feeding time

I like this as a storage for the crickets I buy at the store. It is definitely very small, too small for breeding purposes but good enough to gut load your crickets

Don't bother. Crickets can basically walk right out of this thing. After losing a whole batch of "small-medium" crickets overnight, I taped up most of the top. Went back to local pet store and bought more crickets. Half escaped. Put this box inside a 2-gallon Ziploc bag with the top unzipped but, raised all the way up. It was a pretty good solution. I have 4-7 crickets in the bag every morning when I get up. I dump them back into the box every day and do it all over again the next day. I have found crickets all over my dang house for months bc of this "keeper". It was knocked off the kitchen counter by our kitten yesterday and the side now has a long crack in it. I'm looking for a replacement. It won't be this. The food dishes are nice and functional.
