Of all the horse treats I've bought over the past five (gulp!) decades , these are probably the most successful with my picky horses. My 25-year-old PPID-suffering gelding has had a tough time since his diagnosis and it was hard to get him to take his Cushing's meds ... until finding out that peppermint is terrific at masking the taste. These treats are good for giving pills and powder to those reluctant and suspicious eaters. Pro-tip: Put two together if you're adding medications and sandwich the meds in between.

I ordered these because my gelding loves squishy buns and peppermints. So I thought these would be heavenly for him. I opened the bag to a giant goopy mess. There's no peppermint in the treat, it all melted or seaped down to the bottom of the bag. It's quite gross really how slimy and sticky it made the treats. Fingers crossed he still eats them. If he doesn't i supposed we could always throw them at a barn wall on a rainy day and see how it takes them to fall.

My gelding had a significant hind leg injury and subsequently developed arthritis later in life. I have experimented with everything, and was gifted the original muffins from a barn pal back in the day and I'd use them to hide meds. However, I bought these when the usual order went out of stock. The original is good, but as the muffins dry out, they begin to crumble a bit and some days I'd wonder if he spit the pill out. The gooey mint hides pills so well and I'm not wondering if it'll end up on the ground. He actually looks forward to taking his meds, and has no idea I'm medicating him. No attempting to make my own concoctions, wrestling/begging/pleading, etc. Worth the money just buy them.
