My first look at any dog food bag is to find AAFCO approval. It means the food meets nutritional standards for dogs. Check! Edgard Cooper grain-free food meets high nutritional standards. Although Omega 3 fatty acids are not required, they are added and are good for your dog. Everything on the package is impressive. They emphasize fresh chicken is used rather than meal. The package claims meal loses nutrients in processing. I don’t know if that’s true, but it appeals to me because that seems likely. Free-run chickens are used. Evidently the term “free run” can be used for chickens free in a barn, but they cannot be outside. I want food for me and my pets to be as cruelty-free as possible. Barn-raised is not perfect, but better than tiny cages. Perhaps they will improve this in the future. It’s unclear where the food is actually produced. It was developed by Edgard & Cooper’s owners in Belgium, but the bag reads “Manufactured for Edgard & Cooper. Distributed by Blue Buffalo” (in Minneapolis). I would be happy with European-produced food - their standards there are very high - but it is not clear on the package if Blue Buffalo produces the food. Kibble size is great. My sheltie gave a few sniffs first as it’s a new food, but finished every kibble. It’s a typical-size round kibble. They have feeding guidelines on the bag for switching foods. I also like that 1% of total sales goes to their foundation, in partnership with Afripaw, to support the lives of dogs and cats world-wide! Overall, yes, I will feed this to my dog. The standards are high. A quick call to the vet is always a good idea.

All my dogs absolutely love Edgard & Cooper Succulent Free-Run Adult Grain-Free Chicken Recipe Dry Dog Food. When the package arrived I set it out on the deck until I had time to transfer it to my dog food container. Evidently they smelled it and tore it open to help themselves! I really like that it is grain free. Gives me peace of mind about nutrition without fillers. The size of the pieces are perfect for my smaller dogs as well as my medium size dogs. One thing I was surprised with was that they didn't have dog food breath after eating, which was nice. All four gobble it up at meal times, I love that they love the flavor.

My crew had nothing but happy tails for this Edgard & Cooper Free Run Chicken kibble. It’s a grain free, fresh chicken recipe that also includes carrots, blueberries, apples, strawberries, sweet potatoes, and mango, the widest mix of fruits and vegetables I’ve seen in a kibble so far. It also has both omega-3 and omega-6, which I always look for with my dachshunds since it supports their back health. Bonus that this wonderful company donates a portion of its sales to dog and cat charities and rescues. This is definitely one I’d recommend.

Seems to be great quality. I like the real ingredients. It actually has some color to it than dull brown. The dogs seem to like the taste, as they have no problem eating it . Sadly though it doesn’t seem to sit very well with them and they’ve started itching. We’ll have to switch back. Don’t regret trying it to see.
