This test can determine your dog's biological age. Genetic age (or biological age) differs from chronological age. The test looks at how your dog is aging on a cellular level.

How long do test results take to return to owner?

Can this tell me if my dog is part wolf or coyote

The DNA My Dog Premium Breed Identification Test includes an analysis to see if the dog has any Wolf/Hybrid DNA, along with Canine DNA. The DNA My Dog Premium Breed Identification Test does not test for Coyote at this time.

How many generations back does this test for? Can it tell if 2-3 generations back there was a wolf dog?

The DNA My Dog Premium Breed Identification Test identifies all the breeds present in the dog’s DNA, including ancestry that goes back multiple generations. What can't be determined is which specific ancestor contributed to each breed — the test detects the genetic markers themselves, not the family tree layout. And if there is any wolf DNA present in the sample we test, it will be reported.

We ordered this primarily for the age test. We knew the breed and it came back as expected (Saint Bernard) but we adopted our dog last year and were not sure about

The vet said around 5 but we suspected younger. The shelter adopted him to us as two at the time, last year, which made sense since she came back as just over 3 years old. We are so happy to know.

We sent out sample out 1/26/2026 and of today they have not received-what is very deceptive (in our opinion) is the sample was mailed to Illinois *prepaid envelope-the emails from them asking about the sample as they have not received-is from a Canadian email-AND to be further deceptive-we asked if the samples had to go to Canada, we were advised the Illinois location is a "HUB", and the samples are processed in NC. We LIVE in NC. TO DATE we have NOT received notice they received the sample and have been advised to "reach out 2/17/2026" and if it is not there, they will send another kit-NO THANK YOU. What started as a FUN and interesting adventure to learn about our precious Chloe is a HUGE Disappointment. DON'T Waste your money!!!

Kit did not contain a return envelope

I received my kit with no pre paid return envelope. I contacted chewy customer service and was told it was not supposed to contain an envelope. The video clearly

I received my kit with no pre paid return envelope. I contacted chewy customer service and was told it was not supposed to contain an envelope. The video clearly shows a return envelope and the kit itself also states my kit should have had a return envelope. The kit is useless with no return envelope as I have no where to ship my sample. The chewy customer service representative clearly did not know what she was talking about and I cannot get a refund until they come pick up the box with a single cotton swab in it. Very frustrated with this return process for a customer has multiple auto ships with Chewy and has never once returned an item. A cotton swab in a cardboard box is not even worth returning. I should have been sent a new kit with a label but instead I am waiting 2 days for Fed Ex to pick up my cotton swab.

I wanted results mainly to determine the age of my dog. I guessed two when i adoped her two years ago and the test stated 4 years 8 months. That was was helpful

I wanted results mainly to determine the age of my dog. I guessed two when i adoped her two years ago and the test stated 4 years 8 months. That was was helpful. The breed information was questionable. Her red/black hair is not characteristic of any of the breeds. Her smooth face is not characteristic of any of the breeds. She has long straight legs, not like a Lasa Apso, Maltese, Shih Tsu. Maybe poodle. The results do say the results may not match exactly to what your dog looks like due to other dna influences. Maybe I just didnt get what I was expecting
