DNA My Dog Allergy Test

I recently used this allergy test kit for my dog Benson, who sometimes gets "hot spots." I wasn't sure if it was a food allergy or something in the environment causing them. Administering the test was pretty easy—Benson let me collect the sample without any problems. I know my other dog, Susie, would never have cooperated, so I was relieved that Benson was so chill about it. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, and I didn't have any issues with the registration process. I'm still waiting on the results, which are supposed to come back in 2-3 weeks. I hope they arrive soon, as I'm eager to find out what's causing Benson's issues. I'll update this review once I get the results and can see how accurate and helpful they are. Overall, this test seems like a good option if you're trying to figure out your pet's allergies. Just be patient with the waiting time and if your dog is uncooperative, it may not be the best option. If you're in a hurry it's not a great option either. So far, I have been waiting two weeks for the results.

Our five year old Frenchie has had hotspots and red, irritated skin since she was a puppy. She has been on Apoquel and Cytopoint, which certainly helped but it became too expensive and I wasn't thrilled about keeping her on medication her whole life. We tried this allergy test hoping we would finally get answers to what triggers her skin issues, and we did! We suspected she had a grass or other environmental allergy but her report showed she was sensitive to a number of food-related things, including gelatin which is in Franklyn's supplement casings which we fed her daily. Once we removed the items, her skin issues drastically improved and we were able to wean her off of her medication. Such a great investment, really glad we found this test.

I wanted to leave a review for this allergy test because there aren't a lot and the reviews are mixed. I basically took a chance that given the price, using this test wouldn't be a waste of time. Plus it was about 25% of the price that my vet quoted me on allergy testing. 1. Getting the sample: I have a Golden Retriever who is the dog equivalent of a marshmallow so sticking something in her mouth and holding it there for 90 seconds was no big deal. I imagine she is the rare case, so just be aware. 2. Mailing it was easy, but with no tracking, it felt like there was a 50/50 chance of the sample making it. But it did! And where others have reported their sample arrived damaged, mine was fine. 3. Once the sample arrived it was a reasonable turnaround for results. 4. I docked a star for accuracy of results. On one hand, the test provided interesting feedback and the test showed she reacted to allergens I hadn't considered. Using that info I (knock on wood) have finally found a food that doesn't bother her. So there is some validity to the results. But I've long suspected she's allergic to beef. The test showed no reaction to beef so I found a beef based food with no other allergens, fed her, and she was back to being sick for 2 days. Correlation isn't causality so who knows why that happened and in a couple of months I'll try beef again. But it gave me pause. Overall, great price, fair turnaround time, and the test results gave me details I didn't previously have to make more informed decisions on her food and it's helped! She has more energy and less nausea and for that I am thankful.

My girl has had mild to moderate allergy symptoms most of her life. I was thinking a chicken allergy, but removing it from her diet only gave her limited relief. So DNA MY DOG Allergy testing was suggested by a dog trainer. What an eye opener! Allergies to chicken, beef & halibut were not surprising, but rosemary, coconut & flaxseed were! The top quality dry food I was feeding contain these. So with some research on the Chewy App, I was able to find a new kibble that had none of the allergens on her list. And it’s cheaper! Now my girl at 6 is the healthiest she has ever been!
