Long story short, these are big enough (the size of Reese’s Puff cereal ) that cats SHOULD have to chew them and thus reap the dental cleaning benefits. Alas, my greedy bum of a cat (only 10 pounds but obsessed with food) still insists on swallowing them whole. Why? I don’t know. She has healthy teeth and is NOT food-deprived. She crunched about 30%. 70% went down whole. These aren’t nutritious enough to be a “good” treat without the dental benefits. Bummed I bought a big bag. Just a warning for anyone else with a shamelessly gluttonous cat. The best i’ve done is with dehydrated salmon/chicken treats, which my cat will usually chew - though the dental benefit is likely minimal.

We've had two years of good dental check-ups with our 3 cats since we began using Dentalife. Our one year old male kitten had some gum issues the Vet was concerned about. We did some research and decided on Dentalife. Our male is now three years old and his gums and teeth are in good condition. All three of our cats love the flavor of Dentalife. It is one of their favorite treats.

Not only do my cats love these treats, but so do I! These treats are batted around, thrown in the air, chased after from room to room, and then maybe eaten or saved for 2am kitty hunts. My one cat LOVES to play catch with these so I encourage the behavior and throw high ones. He gets pretty good air and gives air paw swats for the ones out of reach. So now there is a daily ritual throwing session so we must never run out! As far as dental improvement goes, seems quite crunchy enough to help but sometimes they're eaten whole.

I couldn't give it 5 stars because the cat swallows it whole, no chewing so not sure that helps his dental care at all. He tosses it in his mouth and swallows whole in 2 seconds. Can't make him chew it. So I doubt it does anything for his teeth. He does the same thing with another dental treat, different brand so nothing wrong with this... it's just my cat.
