I have a psychotic Shiz Tzu that has been re-homed SEVEN times for behavioral issues, separation anxiety and aggression towards other animals. His bark is the loudest, most startling thing you've ever heard. How a little dog can make so much noise is beyond me. When I first got him every time I left even to go into another room he would flip out. I couldnt work it was a NIGHTMARE, we tried three different bark collars and finally found one that worked consistently, so thats under control. However he kept attacking my other dog, we tried Prozac and that made him more aggressive. Then we tried Trazadone and he wouldnt even eat his food if the pill was in it, and it made the problem worse. I was literally ready to put him down, but I took him to a new vet that said lets try this and it seems to be working. Before he would listen when I corrected his unacceptable behavior, now he does. He's still a little A-hole at times, but nothing like he was. My brother who trains police dogs was like OMG you have your work cut out for you with this one. We come along way baby.

I have a five year old border collie/lab mix. We got him as a puppy and immediately noticed he had some anxiety issues. We started training and doing all of the recommended things but he still had severe anxiety. Fast forward this 4th of July. Fireworks have never been an issue up until this year. People were setting them off as usual and we had him in the house when this would happen. He was so anxious he stopped going outside but once a day. Obviously this wasn’t good and we tried the positive reinforcement first but our vet recommended this medication. He’s a completely different dog. He doesn’t nip visitors anymore and he’s a joy to have around (not that he wasn’t before but his anxiety limited him in what we could do with him) he’s been on this medication a little over a month now and is doing great. If you have an extremely anxious dog I highly recommend.

Thank you so much for making this medication possible. Zia needs a pill everyday for her to have a great quality of life! Her past experiences have made her a little broken and to have this available and cost effective makes her and my 5 year old daughter have the deepest loving bond. To watch a little girl and her "husky" is a beautiful thing. Zia is 1 years old and this medication helps us to train her to be a great companion and not a wild beast.

I adopted my dog when he was 8 years old and he had severe separation anxiety and abandonment issues. As it was impossible to leave the house without him because of how crazy he would get, I wanted a quick fix. I tried everything - training, CBD, Prozac, recording my voice to play when I was gone, DogTV, special beds- EVERYTHING. Nothing helped him to feel relaxed at home without me there. My vet suggested Clomicalm and said that it may take 4-6 weeks to work. I wanted something sooner but I am so glad that I listened to him. Honestly, it took about 3 months for this to actually work, but I can now leave him alone for hours at a time. He lays right down when I leave and stays relaxed until I come home. It has not changed his temperament at all- he is still just as happy and excited as he always was, but he no longer feels fear or anxiety when I am gone. He still gets excited when I come home, but he is no longer manic- he is a much happier dog. This medication is very expensive, but it is worth it for the relief that both he and I have received from it. I know you want a quick fix for your dog to feel better, and I did too, but stick with this one!!

Bear is, has always been, and will always be a very reactive pup. In short, he’s a bit crazy. My vet prescribed Clomicalm for Bear a couple years ago and because local availability is sketchy, I decided to switch his Rx to the always-reliable Chewy. The meds do help and his anxiety (and ridiculous level of protectiveness of me) are more easily manageable.

First of all let me state my vet prescribed half a pill a day, of the 5 mg pill, for my neutered male senior eight year old cat. He's been on the medication almost six months now.  He began showing anxiety and spraying all over the house whenever he saw a cat in the back yard. I have used Feliway plug ins, and other calming aids but nothing was working.  I clean the litter box two to four times a day.  I even use fox urine in the yard to deter cats, raccoons and other animals from coming into my yard. He wasn't sleeping, and kept meowing and yowling. The vet said to allow thirty days for the drug to get into his system, but it worked from the very first dose.  No spraying, no meowing, no pacing or running from window to window, not going into the litter box every fifteen minutes to urinate a small bit or dig around. No excessive grooming.  I send a written report to my vet every month with updates. He sleeps the normal fourteen or so hours a day. Birds in the yard don't agitate him as much.  The only negative side effect I've encountered is he seems to have some elimination issues. Every other month I've found a couple pieces of feces in the house. Once near the litter box, in the living room, and in the kitchen where he sits to eat. I think he might be dribbling a little urine as he licks himself a bit more. He's not meowing or stressed and otherwise goes into the litter box normally. It's a lot easier to clean up a couple pieces of feces than cat urine spray.

I am appalled at reviews that expect this medication to work in 6 days? It takes a full 4-6 weeks for this medication to take effect in the dogs system. And it might not be the right dose yet. You need an rx so you should be working with a vet who should advise you of this, and you are your pets advocate so do your own research. Also, does anyone think it might be helpful to leave your dogs weight and dose when reviewing? I find that helpful as I’m trying to compare what worked for others in a similar situation. We are adopted a jack Russell beagle mix from a shelter that had only been at the shelter for two weeks and was found as a stray so we know no history on her. We do not know if her anxieties developed from us not doing the proper things when we brought home a rescue dog, leaving her alone too soon, leaving her during rain, creating her. She clawed and chewed our door frame a few days later, and she obviously has isolation anxiety. Any human can be present but she cannot be alone. We worked with a behaviorist, an in home trainer, and we behavior modification, puzzle toys, automated treat dispensers and many other things to help our pup. She needs medication to be able to learn. So far we have started at a low dose of clomicalm and been increasing by 5mg doses every 4weeks. It has been slow, months, but we think 40mg might be the dose for our 28lb beagle mix. She is starting to be more sleepy and calm, not as reactive to leaving cues, and able to be left for 30min with a treat toy as a distraction. We have tried prozac prior to this but when her success in training was broken by a family member picking her up hours after we left her, she was pushed to panic and we could not get her back to where she was so we think the prozac was not effective. We have hope for this medication. My main point is this takes time to work, and when you leave a review, think about why you are leaving it and elaborate so it’s actually useful. Not it worked, it didn’t work. That doesn’t tell anyone the situation, dose, weight of animal, condition using it for. Those actually trying to help our pets and gain normalcy in our life are seeking information to draw conclusions, to ask our vet questions etc.

It seems to have had an effect to some degree without making him drugged. Chewy was much more affordable than the other pharmacy. Excellent, quick delivery. We love Chewy! This was so easy to sign up for. I just entered my vet info. 2 days later I get a call from the vet office verifying that I'm signing up with Chewy and viola! I was done. 3 days later I get my dogs meds right to my mailbox. No longer having to drive an hour to the bets office to refill once a month. It's great!! The autoship is nice too. I always was scrambling to find time to make that drive to the vet 'cause I'd be getting down to the end of her prescription. Its great not to worry about that anymore. Now I'm scrolling through the website to see what else I can make easier for myself and just order through Chewy.
