Are the ingredients sourced outside of the US? if so where?

Answer by ChewyJan 22, 2018
The manufacturer will source their high-quality ingredients within the United States depending on availability. However, certain ingredients will need to be outsourced (i,e: Lamb, Venison, Duck, Rabbit, Vitamin Packs, etc.) to ensure top quality and freshness while meeting a reasonable price point for pet parents. The Lamb is sourced in New Zealand, the Salmon Oil is sourced in Chili and the Duck is sourced in France.

How many cups of food are in the 28# bag? Trying to determine how often to ship.

Answer by ChewyAug 29, 2019
There's approximately 4 cups in every one pound of dry dog food. The 4.5-pound bag contains about 18 cups, the 13.5-pound bag contains about 54 cups and the 28-pound bag contains about 112 cups of kibble.

When the "Feeding Inst." say "Daily Amount" is it per meal or all together?

Answer by ChewyDec 06, 2019
The feeding amount is what should be given per day. Daily amount may be split into morning and evening meals. For example, if daily feeding is 1 cup, it can be split to 1/2 cup in the morning and 1/2 cup in the evening.

There are not any fillers or junk in this food and results in less pet waste to clean up. Most importantly that is due to the majority of the food is absorbed unlike foods that use too many fillers to increase profits instead of increase the value and quality. This means your pup or dog will have a healthy meal. The price point may be a bit higher than some others but when you consider the lack of fillers and the fact that they have to eat less of this food per serving it really is NOT more expensive. I was introduced to this food from the breeder I purchased my 6 week old puppy from. I realize some pups as well as dogs can have digestive issues when switching food so I asked her what food have the puppies been eating she replied " Chicken Soup for the Soul for puppy " So I been feeding her that for a year and now just purchased the firs bag of Adult ( Chicken Soup for the Soul Adult Dry Dog Food ) She loves this food just as much if not more.

I have two Pugs, Linus (Fawn colored) , Mia (black). Linus is 16 years old and going strong, well hearing and eye sight not the best at this elderly age, but he’s pretty happy for an old geezer. He’s outlived the Pug life span by 2 years. I credit his life long steady diet of your food for his good health! Thank you! Mia is 8 and going strong as well! I’m in CT and told the manager at “All Pets Club” where we buy our dog food how great you guys are. He said I should give you a review. This was like 6 months ago...but hey if you ever want to borrow Linus for testimony advertising to how healthy your food is just let me know! All the best, with much Gratitude - Monica, Linus and Mia

I switched from merrick brand food to this because of the price and i found that it is just as good. my dog loves it and this is my second purchase of a 30 lbs. bag that actually lasted me about 6 months. Mia's stool is smaller and solid and I get compliments on her shiny coat from her vet, groomer, family and friends. I will continue purchasing Chicken Soup for a Dogs Soul.

WE have been feeding our mixed breed Bruce this food since we rescued him (he really rescued us) 7 years ago. He has had no other food other than Chicken Soup. He has not gained a single ounce in 7 years. He is as energetic and playful as the day we got him. Our vet asked what we feed him and she emphatically gave us a "thumbs up". Chewy has the best pricing and delivery is lightning fast. Thank your Chewy.com !!! Loyal customers for food, toys and treats.

The kibble ingredients are almost completely nutritious. There is just a little filler in the form of tomato pomace. The chicken and fish meal obviously has water, so you really can't tell how much actual meat there would be, but the % wise of protein you are getting overall is very high and it is from meat and fish products. The kibble is a great size, easily eaten by both my 8 pound and 65 pound dogs with no problem. I also like that the bag is plastic so there is no potential moisture problem in storage. Cheaper than CORE and other crazy high protein foods (I think that amount is excessive unless you are working a dog hard). So what happened when I switched about 4 years ago? Coat on my mini doxie and pitbull got noticeably softer, they are both 6 years old with no health issues, and have plenty of energy so I am very pleased. I wanted a high quality (non super-brand shelf foods) at a fair price and this did the trick. Highly recommend.

Having a bullie with a sensitive digestion I have tried them all! I also have researched through the "clean label project" and found this was given 5 stars. Very happy with this food, much less frequent BMs and he never has gas. Skin looks fantastic. Protein is not super high which is also good for bullies

I've fed this brand to my dogs for years and have been very happy with it. However, I just received an email about this product's new formula so I compared the new formula and feeding guidelines with the old: One of the old protein sources (ocean fish meal) was removed and more legumes have been added (legumes being one of the suspects in the recent increase in cases of DCM). The new guaranteed analysis shows more fiber and less protein, fat, zinc, vitamin E and omega-3 and -6 fatty acids. The feeding guidelines have also changed in that larger amounts are being recommended. Finally, the bag is now smaller (13.5# vs. 15#), but for all that, the price has risen by $4. The only advantage I can see to the reformulation is more profit for Diamond Pet Foods. It certainly isn't better for the dog or for the owner's pocketbook. I'll be looking for different brands with a better nutrition profile and price.

We have two dogs, Scout and Luke Skywalker. They both love the food so much that they started to gain weight. When I noticed that there was a weight control version, I decided to try it, but was afraid that they might not like it. Fortunately, they don't seem to know the difference, and they have lost some weight. We're very happy about that!

I run a beagle rescue, have done a lot of research on dog foods and this is far and away one of the best - especially for the reasonable price. It is one of the few foods that met the very high standards to be endorsed by the Whole Dog Journal experts! My dogs and foster dogs all love it, do very well on it and it never sets off anyone's allergies. We have used this food for years and will continue to do so - we also recommend it to all of our adopters.
