Chewy Made Standard Bully Stick 6" Dog Treats (FORMERLY BONES & CHEWS), 6 count

My dog loves these but the quality is all over the place. In my pack of 6, 3 of them look great and full while the others 3 appear to be cut in half. They are very thin and about half the size of the other proper bully sticks. I can understand they won’t all be the same but these aren’t that cheap so it’s a shame to see such a dramatic difference in size/quality.

I used to buy this brand a lot (the standard bully but in the 12" size and in the large box) back when I still had my Great Danes and I cut them in half (6" sizes) and they were great- very thick and beefy. Gradually, I noticed that they started to seem thinner. I stopped buying them because of this as I felt the value was no longer there and tried other brands. After a number of years, I decided to try this brand again and soon regretted that I bothered. I was just hoping that the quality was back to where it used to be with the thicker bully sticks. Yeah, I know they now sell what they call thicker bully sticks but the standard ones used to be decent but I think they are too thin still for the price. I see the brand sells a thin version too...they must be like toothpick size because I'd call these standard ones now thin. And, although my puppy eats them, my senior rescue rejected these ones. He does eat them from other brands but these ones he just licks it then stares at me like what have I done to his old ones!!

I buy bully sticks for my dog about 4-6 times per year. I've purchased many brands from many online retailers and these are by far the best - and the best for the money - that I've ever gotten. Some of the bully sticks I've purchased from online retailers are so tiny...they're all 6 inches long, but most have been barely larger than a pen in diameter - my dog chomped through them in minutes. I bought two 6-packs of these in my last order, and the smallest stick out of the 12 was bigger than any of the others I'd ever gotten before. More than half of the sticks in this shipment have diameters that are almost the size of a nickel! (See attached photos with nickel for scale) I gave my 40-lb hound/pit mix the smallest one and it took him about 20 minutes to get through it. Plus it really cleaned his teeth on the side where he chewed the most. As an added bonus, these don't stink as bad as all of the other pizzles I've gotten (but my dog still loves them just as much as the foul-smelling ones). These smell stronger than a rawhide, and a little more stinky than his dry food, but they don't have that super strong stench of rot/death on them like all of the previous pizzles I've gotten that made me want to wear rubber gloves when I retrieved them from the package to keep that stank from lingering on my hands... As long as these same bully sticks keep coming, I'm definitely keeping my auto-ship order from Chewy active, and keeping these bully sticks in each order.

I have a 35 lb basenji, but she is a very instinctual dog who takes little interest in regular treats or toys. She loves sniffing for animals and treats she can chew on. I bought her cheap bully sticks from Petsmart but they were so soft that she would devour them in 30 seconds. I got her these and figured it was pricey for very few, but boy have they lasted! She loves them so much and they keep her busy for upwards of an hour. She goes crazy once she sees these. She has absolute no interest in treats, even the best ones I could find, but if your dog is more of a chewer, I highly recommend these. I thought she was a strong chewed but it seems more that I was just buying cheap treats. Do recommend to light to moderate chewers. Even heavy chewers depending on how you might notice them chew other bully sticks. I didn’t want to get her bones because she is 11 and I don’t want to chip a tooth. Be sure to watch them to ensure their teeth don’t get damaged or they don’t swallow big chunks.
