Chewy Made Soft-Baked With Peanut Butter & Banana Grain-Free Dog Treats (FORMERLY AMERICAN JOURNEY), 8-oz bag

Freddie Mercury is the rare not-food-motivated dog. He has a few special treats he enjoys, but generally doesn't need or want new foods. Our first time giving him these American Journey Soft Baked treats (peanut butter/banana) was at Thanksgiving. He was in a new place, with stress and noise and weird things going on. I offered him the treat as a distraction and he took it from me. Very delicately, looking at me the whole time, he gently set it down on the carpet and sniffed then licked it. This is actually HIGH PRAISE for Freddie. He didn't eat it, but it also was very easy to clean up! The second time I offered it was when we had run out of his favorite post-walk treat, and he wagged his tail and gobbled it up then did a "sit" and asked for more. 🙂 This is not his favorite, but it will do in a pinch. I like the American Journey brand - the kibble is his primary food, so I would possibly buy this in the future.

When you first open the bag, it smells like the Gros Michel banana (think fake banana candy flavor) and peanut butter. These smell so good. Like, people food good. Like, "grandma visiting, opening the bag and having to stop her before she eats a dog cookie but then having to convince her that they're for dogs because she doesn't believe you" good. The texture is also really good. These feel like the Pillsbury Soft Baked cookies you buy for people. They are soft, but not soft enough that a small dog with no teeth could eat. But, these are easily broke by one hand. Size wise, these are rather large. This is a treat for big dogs I feel or one biscuit for a small dog that you break into small training treats. For my cani corsi, I break them into fours and give them that way. I could give them to them whole and they would have no problem eating them that way, but I just feel that they are a bit big for a treat. But, like I said, they're very easy to break apart and are not very crumbly. These really don't make a mess. My main gripe about these is that they are grain free. I prefer to feed grain inclusive diets. However, because these are treats and take up less than 10% of my dogs' diet, it really doesn't matter much. Lastly, there are not many treats in the bag. Breaking them in half or into fours really prolongs the bag. But, these quickly loose their scent if the bag is not closed up properly. Get a Tupperware and store these in the treat bag inside the Tupperware so they stay moist and super scented. I'm already on the second bag for my dogs because they love these treats!

I have the Soft Baked Peanut Butter Treats with banana. The treats are easy to break into smaller treats which is great for training purposes, smell like peanut butter, and are soft for my pup to chew! You can see the banana pieces inside! My pup goes crazy for them and absolutely loves eating them. I like that they can be broken into smaller pieces as they are a decent size treat, and gives the illusion of more treats for my girl! It is the perfect training treat. I like that they don't smell bad. I would recommend these treats! My pup is a 2 year old Beligan Malinois with a sensitive stomach and these have been great for her so far! We use them as a morning treat to practice some obedience and as a good-bye treat when I leave the house.

Easily a 5 star rating! These treats are sized generously, and 40 calories each. They smell and look like little banana muffins. I did not taste them myself, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted to. They truly look and smell like a snack muffin one might enjoy after school. :) My petite pittie princess loves them! While her palate is not what I would consider exclusive, she takes her treats seriously and she seriously loves these! I made a treat puzzle box for her birthday, with four different treats hidden inside, and these American Journey treats are the ones she sought out first. For reference, Anna is a 43 lb boxer/pit mix who recently turned six years old.
