I switched to this food because it had NOT CHICKEN FAT, BI-PRODUCT OR MEAL!!! MY DOG HAS A CHICKEN ALLERGY. So the food I order gets discounted, the price goes up, and you add CRAP INGREDIENTS!! Probably miniature sized pieces too, right?? Like everyone ones an ankle biter. Can't afford food

No it is the same size food as the discontinued. But because of the change in names they may have changed some ingredients somewhere. Ive fed all my dog this brand and have had no issues. But, I could see some dogs having some issues with the transition. Its like changing to a brand new food. As far as price going up, I hate to say this but everything not just dog food has gone up. There are cheaper foods out there but you should give it a try but add pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling) if you dog develops sensitivity. Thank you for reading

Two months ago we adopted a miniature Mexican Hairless from the Humane Society. They told us he had severe skin infections when they found him as a stray and advised us he would require special skin care. So, we decided to start him on a good quality grain free food right off the bat. This brand rated high in the online review sites so we decided to give it a try. Since we also have a Chihuahua with a food allergy to chicken, and the vet said chicken is the most allergenic food for dogs, we decided on the salmon blend. I also thought the fish oil might help his skin. Well, so far, so good. No skin outbreaks. In fact, last week we went back to visit the shelter where we got him and the ladies who had cared for him were amazed. They kept commenting on how good his skin looked and felt...like velvet! Of course there's no proof that this is due to the food but it's the only change we've made in his care so I'm convinced it's played a part. We will be staying with this product because this sweet guy, who finally found his forever home, deserves no less!

Good Stuff this SALMON based. Okay we Just ordered a big bag recently. We tried many different foods he kept losing weight all our other furkidz of the Maple Hill Gang hope he would drop some so they could enjoy it too.I personally have never tasted it but I don't care for fish anyway. They are hunters so their food is different & balanced for activity & or inactivity. Sadly we lost Zeus to *several debilitating health issues yesterday. This past summer he was diagnosed with Cushing's Syndrome/disease had several oral cancer surgeries, Yet it kept coming back with a vengeance. I won't get in to the details, but we have been spoon-feeding him for quite some time as a result. Never Give up on your best friend NEVER! We also lost two of our other brother Furkidz recently Vin & Ziggy passed 2 months apart 11 1/2 y.o. beagle brothers. They let you know when it's time to cross the Rainbow Bridge. Zeus nearly made it to 13, that's a Great Long Life for a large breed Cane Corso. He was a TROOPER... Right to the end, his legacy will live on with fine memories & thousand of photos. Rest in Peace my Best Friend ..You will be sorely missed by ALL of us Go be with Ziggy & Vincenzo..BIG Woof

Love Love Love.

I just got this yesterday and had to know if my picky eaters would eat this because it took me forever to find a food they loved. Needless to say I put a cup down

I just got this yesterday and had to know if my picky eaters would eat this because it took me forever to find a food they loved. Needless to say I put a cup down and before I got to the other side of the house they'd woofed it down and were begging for more. I decided after a year of them eating Nutro's Wholesome Essentials Salmon formula that maybe it wasn't just the grass one of my dogs is allergic too, that it might be something in her food. Sally is pretty much bald from her neck down all the way down to her belly and has some patches on her legs. I give her allergy medications and a omega 3-6-9 supplement everyday to try and help but alas it has not. I'm hoping by switching to grain free it will help all of her hair grow back! I'll write an updated review about a month after they're completely switched over with a before and after picture but I'll post photos of what her neck looks like now below. (She's a rescue puppy so I have no idea where those marks came from but she has them all over her but now she is very loved and spoiled.)

Mommy’s Little Piggy Likes it!

Recently I started to search for a new dry dog food for my German Shepherd Dog. He was on Blackwood Catfish & he liked it. But GSD have allergies & the Blackwood he was on was not grain free, even though it was for sensitive & allergic dogs. They do have grain free in some blends. But I wanted to see if I could weed out any more issues if possible. I switched our Chewy auto ship to Taste of the Wild grain free prairie blend. Well, he doesn’t like buffalo, bison or venison because that’s what’s in that flavor. I mix Honest Kitchen chicken in with his dry food. So even with human grade from H.K he didn’t finish the bowl. This is unlike “mommy’s little piggy”. So once again, try another food. American Journey had a special BOGO sale. They were grain free & I found a fish flavor. But if he didn’t like it, I would have useless bags up to my ears. First try went smoothly and every feeding after that. No food left over. So I know he likes it. I always do my research on dog websites geared toward recalls & ratings when getting Thor food. American Journey is highly Top rated & no recalls. 5 out of 5 stars on some sites. But it’s so awesome he likes it too! Because even though I want him to enjoy his food, it has to be a better, healthier choice in food.

I've been a dog owner all my life and have used all different types and brands of dog food - kibble, wet food, fresh food, and even homemade. I do really love the fresh food like Just Food For Dogs, but it can get extremely pricey. What I've found works best for both my budget and my dog's health and enjoyment is to feed mostly kibble with a little bit of the JFFD fresh frozen food mixed in. We've been using the American Journey Salmon & Sweet Potato recipe for about a year and a half now and it's great! Circe definitely loves it - I often use the kibble as training treats for her and for mental enrichment activities (I put it in snuffle mats or toss a small handful in the grass and have her do nose work by searching for it) and she is always gets super excited for our training exercises because she knows she's going to get yummy rewards :) Besides the fact that it is a great price and Circe enjoys the taste, she's also in wonderful health and has never had any stomach or weight issues since using this brand.

I've been a certified veterinary technician for over 15 years & know which foods are better for my dog because I was schooled in veterinary nutrition. Aside from veterinary diets that are expensive but good, THIS new food by Chewy.com is a VERY healthy & nutritious food for a very good price. It has no by-products & wholesome (& REAL) protein, veggies, & fruits in it; not to mention ample supplements that ALL dogs should be on for them to live a long & healthy life. One motto I've learned in this profession is "ITS EASIER TO PREVENT THAN TREAT" & this food had everything in it you'll need to sustain a healthy digestive system in your dog. I definitely recommend this food to everyone because you can't beat the price & the quality of the ingredients in this food! My Titus loves the Salmon & Sweet Potato & it keeps his coat shiny & skin smooth as well as other things but hands down a GREAT food. 5 STARS DEFINITELY!!

George has suffered from hot spots for the past 10 years that I've owned him. By switching him to a grain free food a year ago, there was a marked improvement but

George has suffered from hot spots for the past 10 years that I've owned him. By switching him to a grain free food a year ago, there was a marked improvement but after I picked up this particular one only because of special discount offered at the time, he has improved to not scratching much at all! He love the taste but even though there was a reduction in his scratching after I switched to grain free food, he still scratch his back some but chewed on his feet to the point he often couldn't walk without limping badly. Since he started this food 2 months ago, he no longer scratch at all and surprisingly no longer chewing on his feet. Salmon has always been one of his favorite but he didn't like the oil I purchased for him once. (only time I've known him to turn down good) this one looks rich in the oils but just looking at it you can tell it's richer than his previous brands and for the first time since I adopted him at the age of about 7, he doesn't have bald spots on his back!

Older Dog Loves It!

I have a 70lb. alaskan malamute/ siberian husky mix and we started him on this in May. He's had issues with grain free dog foods that would make his stool runny

I have a 70lb. alaskan malamute/ siberian husky mix and we started him on this in May. He's had issues with grain free dog foods that would make his stool runny but this hasn't happened with this particular brand. He's 7yrs. so I wanted to make a switch from a basic brand to something that had a bit more veggies and protein in it with out it being over priced. He loves it and some times if I'm too slow he'll get the food out of the bin himself. After switching to this brand he doesn't have his tummy issues. He used to throw up all the time and it only started around Sept/Nov. of last year and continued throughout the winter time. So far so good, we're really loving American Journey and even started our puppy on it. I didn't know there was a version for larger breeds (bigger sized kibble), but now that I do, we're getting that instead.

FINALLY FOUND A PERFECT DOG FOOD

My 1 year old Anatolian Shepherd Mix is not only picky but has allergies to so many brands. I knew I would have to keep trying foods until I found one that he liked & didn’t make him sick or have bad reactions. ( red belly, allergie bumps all over him and itching too) He only liked 2 foods of the 5 we tried over 1 year, science diet & Blue Buffalo but didn’t like the big nuggets so it was a challenge to find the right food. He LOVES American journey and no bad reactions at all! Plus he eats it dry and that has not happened with any other food. I will not have to change his food again and I know this is good and very healthy for him. Thank you so much I’m now a customer for life, keep up the great work
