Is this water fountain cordless?

The fountain is not dishwasher safe. Wash and rinse fountain with a soft sponge and a non-abrasive cleanser. Rinse thoroughly, ensuring no soapy residue. Remove the filter from the base and rinse. Do not wash the filter with soap. If filter contains excess debris or other foreign matter, replace it (replacement filters sold separately). The filter should be replaced every 3-4 weeks or when there are visible signs that the filter is saturated with foreign matter (debris, food, hair, etc.) or if the water flow is impeded. More frequent changes may be necessary due to indoor environmental and water conditions, as well as multiple pet use. The fountain is made with BPA-free materials.

So, my boys have grown up using fountains to drink out of. I have had several kinds in their lifetime. I didn't think anything of it when purchasing a new one to replace another that the wires became exposed on making it unsafe. They wouldn't even go near this one. I tried with bubbles and with the stream attachment. 2 weeks went by and I thought I was going to have to return it. Then suddenly one of my boys decided he likes it lol. Yay! So give your kitties time to get used to something, they may just surprise you and start using it. The only con I can say about this fountain after using many is all the freaking nooks and crannies to have to clean. Some are so small you have to use a q-tip. It's frustrating when they do this for someone that likes to keep the fountains super clean like myself.

I've had this fountain for about 3 weeks now. I have had zero issues with mold or algae. Per the instructions, you need to rinse the 2 plates, bowl, and filter every 3 days and wash the 2 plates, bowl, and pump every week. Change the filter once a month. I rinse the system plus filter on Wednesdays and clean the system plus rinse the filter on Sundays. Easy to clean and no issues. My cats switched from a bowl of water to the fountain pretty quickly. The reviewers having issues with algae or mold aren't cleaning the system as directed. The filter needs to be rinsed twice per week to keep hair and food off of it. It should not need to be changed until 30 days. I would highly recommend this fountain.

My aging cat was never good at drinking water. At this late stage, I decided to try a fountain-type bowl. I chose this product not just because of the cute factor but because it seemed to be well made; I liked the stainless steel plate idea; and I valued reviews. The bowl arrived quickly and we assembled it right away. We can't believe how quiet this system is. And, I discovered you CAN teach an old cat new tricks. After two days of checking out this new gadget, I was "allowed" to remove her former water bowl. She likes to drink near the spout AND from the shallow moving pond (photo included). Her nose no longer gets in the way of drinking and she truly appears more comfortable using this water source. Although we only have this product for a short time and I can't address its longevity, I truly wish I had purchased this drinking fountain sooner. And although we cat owners can never tell how a fussy cat will respond to something new, THIS fussy cat said yes to the new bowl in her world.

I was surprised by how easy it was to clean, and that I didn't need to clean it very often. Our old water dish was constantly getting dirty because one of our cats has bad eyesight and likes to dip his paws in the water to see how much the dish had in it. He doesn't do that with this fountain because the water is much easier for him to see. It is also very silent but makes a little water tinkling noise when the water is getting low, which is great since it never gets completely empty before I know to fill it again. I've only had the low water light come on once in the months we've had it. Another bonus is the filters are easy to replace, and not expensive at all.

After recently adopting a kitten. The first thing I wanted to get was A somewhat stylish water fountain. So, she can always have access to fresh water when I'm not there. I like the simplicity and the design of the bowl. But, there's a few issues. Pros : simplistic design, constant flow of water, easy to clean, the water filters are priced reasonably, Plus there's a variety of colors to choose from. Cons, It's hard to read how much water is in the bowl, water filter sensor is very sensitive. Any slight movement to the cord can cause it to error out. Causing the bowl to show a red flashing light. But, during the flashing of the red light, it still spits out water in small portions., since the base is not slip resistant. An animal can push it around throughout the house getting water everywhere. As of right now there's no rubber bumpers underneath it to keep it from sliding. So, if your animal becomes territorial and starts pushing the water around it can actually cause it to error (flash red light) and the water to spill out onto the floor. A quick solution: is to find a bin to hold the fountain in place. As of right now mine's in a Rubbermaid container this keeps it from spilling. Plus, keeps the cord in one position. Preventing her from going behind it and knocking it over.

I've had this water fountain for about two and half years. It's super cute, easy to take apart and put together, and my cat loves it. Unfortunately, the type of light used on the pump encourages algae growth, which does mean you have to clean it really often. Also, the pump has finally started to break down now. Not a terrible length of time, but for the price and the issues, I'll be trying something else. If the light problem is fixed in the future, I might come back to it.

LOL! This cat fountain is like a toxic co-dependent relationship...you know it's not any good, but you keep trying to make it work. This fountain serves it's purpose because it keeps debris out of the water. HOWEVER...you MUST clean the whole basin and parts every couple of days. This is not a "set it and forget it" fountain regardless of it having a filter. Stop being lazy and erase thoughts of lazy from your head human... you MUST CLEAN this fountain and inspect it every couple of days. If not, mold and algae will be your kitty's nemesis. I gave it 4 stars because I had this fountain 2 months and the pump stopped working. I am ordering another pump from Amaz*n for $10. I checked the Catit website for another pump and it was priced around the same, but shipping pushed the price up to $27. To get extended life out of the pump, it's best to have it on a programmed timer and take the pump apart and clean it. I more than likely will burn through pumps because I constantly let the fountain run so my cat can get water as he pleases. I have accepted this fate.

You do have to clean it frequently, though - and the motor will get clogged after a while and you have to clean out the gunk to get the water flowing through it again (I think this is might be what's going on when people complain that the motor stopped working after x number of months - at least in many cases). I routinely clean out the gunk from the motor when I change the filter c. every month or so, so I haven't had that problem in ages. I got this from a friend almost two years ago, so it's probably about three years old and still working great!
