How many cups are there per bag?

Answer by ChewyApr 28, 2018
There's approximately 16 cups of food in the 4 pound bag, 48 cups of food in the 12 pound bag and 96 cups of food in the 24 pound bag.

This shows the protein percentage at 32%. What percent of that is derived from meat sources?

Answer by ChewyMar 24, 2020
Due to the pet food industry being a very competitive business, companies want to keep their recipes proprietary at the risk of them being copied by others, the protein content derived from animal sources, is considered proprietary to the manufacturer.

What about fruits and veggies in this dog food? Thanks!

Answer by ChewySep 19, 2018
This formula contains sweet potatoes, peas, potatoes, vitamins, minerals and a probiotics mix. This is a limited ingredient diet for pets with sensitivites so it uses just eight key ingredients. However, even if your dog isn’t sensitive to ingredients, he’ll still love the great taste.

What ingredients are used when you list “natural flavors” in the ingredients list?

Answer by ChewyFeb 09, 2019
The natural flavors in this food is a proprietary blend derived from main protein source of the food.

My babygirl has severe environmental allergies. I should have named her Cash. I started using Cheey because they had a food I thought would help. I cannot find no cor, no wheat, no soy , grain free salmon dog food anywhere else that it does not costs almost as much as one of my utilities. Chewy has it better priced, I also fill her allergy prescribed meds at chewy along with a bag of pure salmon treats. I have it all on auto ship and having it come to my door is fabulous . When I have needed them to hold off because I either don’t have the money that week or and Still have some left it’s never Problem. Call back tell Them I’m ready to resume , no problem. Chewy really is an animal lovers dream . Check them out u won’t b sorry

It felt like every other month my husband and I found ourselves at the pet store, staring down a wall of dog food. We were paralyzed, overwhelmed and exhausted by all of the choices available. We just wanted a food that agreed with our lovable Corgi who was a picky eater with a sensitive stomach! After picking up a bag of Canidae Sea, we knew we had found "the one". Canidae Sea is simply the best. Scouty has been eating this food for about 6 months and has maintained a healthy weight, shiny coat and great disposition. The kibbles are good size, the ingredients are high quality and I can't say much for the taste, but Scout sure loves it. I hope they never change the recipe! Thanks Chewy for the fast shipping and great service!

Like most, we've cycled through a variety of higher-end dog food in the quest to find a quality product our two beasts will eat. One of the freeloaders will eat anything, the other is quite picky. On top of that is the changing recipes that have occurred with some of the major brands. This product is not cheap but know that you're getting a better quality for your money than with some of the cheaper brands. We saved a few bucks with a three month trial using a less expensive premium food but both dogs showed a loss of coat quality, stools were not as firm, and "Mr. I'll eat anything" started to develop an allergy (excessively licking his feet). All resolved when we switched back to Canidae. This recipe has fewer fillers and better quality primary ingredients. Moreover, you just can't argue with the results.

I moved back to Chicago from the Middle East and brought a puppy I rescued home with me. She is a Saluki mix. Her sensitivity and metabolism are all Saluki. When I switched her from her grain free puppy food to an adult food she lost almost a pound in two weeks. She went from pooping twice a day to pooping five or more times a day. It was frightening! There's no calorie counts on most dog foods and I went to the vet and we looked it all up. She was down over 100 calories a day and was pooping most of it out. I switched her to Canadae Salmon because of the high Omega and fat content. She is doing wonderfully. Her coat is amazing, she's even faster now, and she smells terrific! Now it comes to my door even thanks to Chewy.com

Not anyone's fault (except my own) for not looking even closer, but be careful when ordering. Unfortunately, Canidae changed the look of the bags and now some look TOO similar. I've had my Frenchie on the Salmon and Barley limited ingredient with wholesome grains and I placed my order thinking it was the same food. I hadn't opened the box until I needed the food and only when I was scooping it out did I notice that the kibble looked different. Sure enough, I'd accidentally ordered the grain free version instead. Since I was practically out of his regular food, I gave him some of this grain free kind to make a full serving. He's super sensitive so we'll see how THAT goes, but I'm still going to have to get his regular food from the pet store.

This particular formula' Limited ingredient Salmon/swt potato' seems to spoil or smells rancid quickly after opened, Within 14 days it smells rancid. The other Canidae multi protein doesn't not seem to do that. I have been purchasing the smallest bag available to keep food fresh but it is really inconvenient. I am used to buying dog food once a month and have done so for over 40 yrs and never had this problem. This has only occurred in the last 6 months so not sure what is going on with their manufacturing process. I have been buying these 2 specific formulas for over 2 years. Hope this helps someone.

Our pittie is 13 years old. She has 13 year old problems, such as a bit of stomach sensitivity and straight out pickiness. She has always had skin issues. She likes this food quite a bit, particularly if we add a serving of fish oils to the bowl. It doesn't upset her stomach and while skin issues are still present, it doesn't seem to aggravate them. If you aren't used to this food, it will smell very fishy. Not rancid, I think obviously, but "Oh, that's fish." All the better to make the dog happy.

Our 1 year old GSD has been the pickiest eater we've ever had. After trying several brands (including a raw diet) he finally took to Canidae Pure Salmon. We mix it with either 1/2 a can of Wellness 95% salmon or chicken. That does the trick 8/10 times :) Some times he just doesn't want to eat. His stomach and bowels have been perfect on this combo of food! We were fighting recurring giardia for a year as well.

My Engkish Bulldog developed allergies to common proteins so we went on a mission to find a more exotic protein that worked for him. This food has been a lifesaver!!

My Engkish Bulldog developed allergies to common proteins so we went on a mission to find a more exotic protein that worked for him. This food has been a lifesaver!! His skin and coat looks the best it's ever been!! I can't recommend this company enough. There are no filler ingredients just good protein and veggies. He eats less due to the high protein content and loves the taste of it!

I originally had my new rescue pup on their puppy formula (amstaff mix, adopted at 7 months old) which was good for a little while, but recently switched to this now that he's one. He LOVES this food. He poops significantly less, is super energetic, has a beautiful shiny coat, and I can tell he feels good because of his healthy diet. I also feel comfortable knowing it has limited AND quality ingredients. I did a lot of research and am happy I ended up choosing this brand, and especially this formula. Would highly recommend!
