I have two 11 year old retired racing greyhounds who have become pickier with their food in their "golden years." Because of dental issues, both have had a lot of teeth removed, so most of the other kibble brands for large breed, senior dogs have such large-sized kibble, that my greyhounds had a hard time eating it. But this kibble is smaller, and I soak it about 10 minutes prior to serving, and it does not swell up like most other kibble. I attribute this to this being such quality nutrition and protein (and no fillers). But my greyhounds LOVE this, and I have had not had any problems getting them to eat now. They love the Bison flavor, but I would imagine ALL Canidae flavors would be appealing. This is truly a wonderful product, and I am recommending it to all my friends, especially greyhound owners. It is a kibble that can be used throughout a dog's life. Also, I cannot say enough favorable things about Chewy.com - their customer service is stellar!

My longhaired Dachshund mix was a rescue, and had been getting whatever was the cheapest food they could get before I got her. Within a month or so of me getting her, she went from a thin coat of fur to SUPER FLOOF! She has over all great health, and while we've tried switching food a couple times over the 9 ish years I've had her, we always end up back with Canidae after some bad experiences with others! She does seem to have a bit of a sensitive stomach, except on canidae. We can switch between canidae pure recipes with no trouble, and she likes them all!

Our GSD had the WORST gas, like burn your nose turn on a fan gas. There were nights when my husband and I would literally wake up from it. We also noticed his stomach was making horrific noises. He’s a new member of the family and we were feeding him Blue which we thought was a good food. His previous living situation was living outside and being starved,so simply eating food could have upset his stomach. I absolutely love his new food and so does he! No more gas and his stomach doesn’t make noises. He’s up to a healthy 90lbs and he’s happy! This food made a difference from his first bowl! I would recommend this to anyone as my Veterinarian did with us for a healthy happy doggy!

Great product for ASL Gluten Free Puppy-Dog

We were sad to see Chewy no longer carrying the Fromm brand line on their site. With the loss of the producer they've offered discounts to get our puppy on a diet

We were sad to see Chewy no longer carrying the Fromm brand line on their site. With the loss of the producer they've offered discounts to get our puppy on a diet that works for her and stick with. Well, as all puppy owners are, we are deeply concerned with the nutrition needed to grow properly as well as a reputable brand we can easily purchase and afford. Canidae Grain-Free PURE series was recommended by Chewy during our search (customer service is AWESOME, you can live chat your concerns and recommendations). Our corgi pup wasn't known to be gluten intolerant until turning 3-4 months after teething was done. With the PURE series we know what it's made of and control of her diet. Corgis also need a certain protein-fat ratio due to their body build, after being on this series since 3 months old , currently she's 8 months. She's at a very healthy dense muscle build of 18 lbs. You would be deceived by her weight by how slender until picking her up or having her in your lap. Corgis gain weigh very easily and fat, this food has been awesome keeping weight, growth, and coat optimal! Tons of energy too. SO MUCH ENERGY. LAND with Bison : Favorite of the 4 varieties available. Maintains a consistent smell that you would expect from kibble. "Dehydrated jerky/meat scent". This is good considering that the SEA was great for coat but gave a funky smell after 1 month. It's fishy, but then it's a weird old oily fishy smell that makes your dog breath a bit much. Size and color consistent and normal dark brown, probably the "darkest" of the series. ELEMENT is also excellent.

I first became acquainted with CANIDAE after adopting my first rescued Golden Retriever in 2004. The wonderful married that ran the rescue couple from Burg, Louisiana, fed their mainstay charges & the temporary interlopers this food, and I didn't question it. Little did I know it would be harder for me to find this food after Hurricane Katrina changed the lives and landscape for so many of us in the Deep South. It was easier to find this food in New Orleans and along the Gulf Coast, but I had a lot of difficulty locating this brand in New Mexico where I resided and worked for a few years. However, that was 2005-7, and it is now almost 2014. We have awesome sites like CHEWY.COM to help us manage busy schedules and honor our beloved canine companions at the same time! (FREE SHIPPING TOO -- WHO CAN BEAT THAT? I STILL PAY LESS ORDERING THROUGH CHEWY THAN I WOULD IF I ORDER FROM MY LOCAL PET STORE. Ordinarily I would want to support my local community and would pay the extra three dollars, BUT in order to continue to rescue and care for my dogs in the manner in which I am committed, that three dollars saved every bag can go a long way to help dogs in need over time). The other brands of premium dog foods that I tried in lieu of the CANIDAE (wasn't grain free at first) that were more readily available to me weren't particulary "bad" per se. I simply & undisputably recognized the HUGE IMPROVEMENT I SAW IN EVERY SINGLE OF MY 5 rescued dogs when I finally switched back to Canidae. One of my older Goldens has ALWAYS been a "scratchy boy" with ear infections, skin issues and allergies. After his hip replacement at a young age, it only seemed to get worse. When I finally switched the dogs back to Canidae I was AMAZED to see the immediate and dramatic difference in him within two days. I've always fed my dogs either Salmon, Duck, and mostly Lamb, but the wonder product of the century (to me) is CANIDAE'S BISON PURE LAND DOG FOOD. I LOVE WITNESSING MY DOGS' VISIBLY INCREASED VITALITY and ENERGY, ENTHUSIASM and VERVE on this awesome grain-free diet. Before Canidae had grain-free, I fed my dogs the all life stage food, and that, too, was stellar, but my itchy Golden is delighted with the BISON and responds so well that we are sticking with that. I EVEN USE THIS KIBBLE as a treat, and all the dogs think it is, indeed, something special, not just a morsel of their regular food. That has to say something -- and it does to me, anyway.ulet has to say something -- and it does to me, anyway. I am very mindful of my own dietary choices, and I take care to thoughtfully select my dogs' nutrition as well. Trust me, my dogs would essentially eat garbage, so I am not touting a product without understanding that fully. I had heard of a recall with CANIDAE a few years back, and when I told a friend I was going back to the brand myself she was outraged. But MANY of the brands have had recalls, and this is LIFE. I am not trying to convince ANYONE of ANYTHING other than my experience and because I absolutely LOVE and CHERISH my animals. Yes, the food is more expensive, and I don't like that the largest bag I can purchase is 24 pounds instead of thirty if I choose the BISON PURE without grain. But, that's that -- and if it's my biggest complaint in life, I'm doing okay. Get a sample of this food and try it, but don't give up in a day. Transition can be hard for any and all dogs. If you've been feeding a brand that may have had greater appeal because of some additive or flavoring but less nutrition, the dog surely may transition less than enthusiastically. But you watch the waste reduce from your dogs while on this diet, their increased activity -- and one need not feed as much of this food as the lesser brands. For my two HUGE Goldens I feed two cups of BISON a day in the morning and they do GREAT! My smaller female Golden gets a cup and a half, and the smaller two fosters just under a cup. That's it. Their fecal response is firm, healthy and consistently indicative of GREAT DIGESTION. Give it a try; you won't be sorry -- and CHEWY has been first-rate the whole time. In fact, it's one of the ONLY places I can get the BISON -- so THANKS! THANKS! THANKS!

When I adopted my English Bulldog/Boxer mix, she was used to being fed Beneful (Purina) food. She had a terrible shedding problem, was always scratching and kept getting eye and ear infections. Almost as soon as I changed her to Canidae Pure Sky, she was 100% better. Now she sheds less, her coat is soft and shiny, and her eyes and ears are perfectly healthy.

Pup isn't thrilled

Tried this food with my picky-eating girl and she doesn't care for it. But, this doesn't mean it's not an excellent food. Fact is, she turns her nose up at most

Tried this food with my picky-eating girl and she doesn't care for it. But, this doesn't mean it's not an excellent food. Fact is, she turns her nose up at most kibble in general. I'll often try disguising the kibble by mixing a can of wet food with it, yet she'll find the kibble and end up spitting them out on the floor. She's a very smart girl. *lol* Anyway, this food looks and smells great and I have no doubt that a non-picky-eating dog would gobble it up.

Just be careful not to overfeed

My pup has lots and lots of allergies. We recently tried to switch him from a venison based food to a salmon one, and wound up finding out he was allergic to fish

My pup has lots and lots of allergies. We recently tried to switch him from a venison based food to a salmon one, and wound up finding out he was allergic to fish in addition to the rest of his allergies. We decided to try the Bison flavor of Canidae after being recommended the brand from a friend. The only problem was that we didn't look very closely at the feeding measurements since he'd been such a picky eater for so long we'd been free-feeding him. After a week on the Canidae, he got sick, from both ends. I was afraid he was allergic to something else in the food again, but turns out he was eating more than twice the recommended amount of food! We stopped letting him free-feed and started measuring carefully, and within 2 days, everything was back to normal. He loves the food and is doing much better on it, just be careful you don't feed too much - this food is rich and can make for some very upset tummies!

4 Dogs Love It!

I rescued a 6 y.o. Sharpei/Pittie mix off of Craigslist three months ago who is still with me as a foster. Her skin was in horrible shape with open sores, elephant skin on all 4 legs, her muzzle and her entire belly. After good vet care, I went about finding foods that she could eat and would support good skin health. My Black Lab (who is 9) had a slightly elevated protein level in her liver and the vet recommended getting her off of the 30% protein foods. She has also had allergies most of her life, so grain free is a necessity. My other two dogs are a 8 y.o. Rottie/Shepherd (who was left as a puppy by her family when they moved and had to fend for herself for a month or two and as a result has a very sensitive stomach) and a 3 y.o. Pittie. All four dogs love this food. It has been perfect for the Sharpei/Pittie and her skin issue has improved steadily. None of the dogs have had any issue with this food. They eat it with GUSTO at meal time. I like the quality and am trying another flavor to give them some variety. I highly recommend this.
