IF YOUR DOG HAS ALLERGIES BEWARE: CONTAINS CHICKEN MEAL

The original Canidae Lamb Meal & Rice formula we've fed our dogs is being discontinued and Chewy substituted this for our next Auto-Ship. Unfortunately this formula

The original Canidae Lamb Meal & Rice formula we've fed our dogs is being discontinued and Chewy substituted this for our next Auto-Ship. Unfortunately this formula (Real Lamb & Ancient Grains) contains chicken meal as a secondary ingredient next to lamb. This would be a huge problem since one of our dogs cannot have chicken. I'm sure we aren't the only pet parents who's dogs would be poorly affected by the ingredients change since the reason we feed lamb rather than chicken is because of allergies/sensitivities. Canidae and Natural Balance Pet Foods merged in 2023 and I have to wonder if this change is a result of that merger. Extremely disappointed because we've felt confident in feeding our pack Canidae for many years and now will be on the hunt for a quality kibble with no chicken within a reasonable price point from another brand.

My four dogs are loving this food! Note that if your dog has allergies to certain meats, this contains more than just lamb, also has chicken meal and pork meal, etc. First ingredient is lamb, which I like. My oldest dog is 7, and youngest is 1, so it’ll be nice to have them all on the same food made for different age ranges. I do wish they had a larger sized kibble, as two of my dogs are large breed and the kibble seems a little small for them. But they still love it!

My 6 dogs absolutely love the CANIDAE All Life Stages Real Lamb & Ancient Grains Recipe! I first started feeding it to them as a treat to avoid upsetting their tummies during the transition, but now they refuse to eat their old food unless I add this to it. It’s clear they enjoy the flavor, and I’m excited to make the full switch soon. This recipe has been a hit with all of them, and I’m happy knowing it's good for dogs of all ages. Highly recommend!

The perfect sized kibble for a medium dog! Kibble is all uniform in size, but has a fairly strong order compared to the high protein food we feed our Border Collie currently. It also leaves a greasy feeling residue on your hands. He eats it happily though!

Not good for sensitive stomachs

It took lots of trial and error to finally find a food that worked for my dog and her sensitive stomach. She was eating Canidae Lamb & Rice and then it was discontinued

It took lots of trial and error to finally find a food that worked for my dog and her sensitive stomach. She was eating Canidae Lamb & Rice and then it was discontinued. This was the suggested alternative. We slowly transitioned her, and she's been gassy and has smelly breath ever since introducing the new food. We'll probably finish out the bag in hopes that it gets better, but based on past experience it's unlikely. I'm back to shopping for new brands. I was especially disappointed to see this adds chicken and pork to the recipe.

Now has chicken!! I have been using this product for a couple years now and it has been great for my dog. We chose this brand because of the simple ingredients and the fact that there was no trace of chicken product. Now they have recently rebranded this product and now it is riddled with chicken ingredients. My dog is allergic to chicken so now I yet again will have to go find another brand.
