No more bad breath!!

My dogs eat a combination of kibble & soft food. I've always used Taste of The Wild for their kibble & FreshPet & Honest Kitchen dehydrated foods for the soft food. I have a 3 yr old Frenchton, 8 yr old Black Lab/Treeing Walker Coonhound mix & an 8 yr old Great Pyrenees. None of them will eat strictly kibble & would rather starve so I've always mixed it with soft food. They gobble it right up that way. I noticed in the past year that all 3 have been getting horrible breath no matter which protein was on their rotation of TOTW. I considered having dentals done on all 3 but the cost had me looking for alternative options before going that route. Plus it was weird that they all developed bad breath at the same time. Actually, bad breath is an understatement. Even with daily toothbrushing & weekly cleaning with dental tools their breath smelled like something crawled in each of their mouths & died there. Yes, it was that bad!! At a vet check they said aside from some very minor gingivitis on our Lab mix all their teeth were in excellent condition. The only thing I could think to change would be the food. After some research & reading way too many reviews (Yes, people actually do read your reviews!!) I decided to go with Canidae multi protein. Chewy, as always, was super quick with their shipping & canceling my previous subscription for the TOTW was a breeze. After a week of transitioning (and some VERY nasty gas from my Frenchton during the switch) my dogs no longer had breath that smell like they spent the night swimming through the tunnels of the local waste treatment plant. I cannot believe the difference it's made in their oral health!! With their previous food they'd eat the soft food & the fresh fruit & veggies in their bowl first & save the kibble for last in case they weren't super hungry & didn't want to finish part of their meal. They don't do that with the Canidae. They just eat everything mixed together without searching out what they consider the good parts first. They've been on it just over a month now & they're all doing amazing on this food. I don't know if they'd eat it as straight kibble though. They enjoy their mix so much & their lives are already way too short on this earth that I wouldn't even try it. I would highly recommend this food & it's fussydoggy approved. My Frenchton no longer has terrible gas from it either. Her sensitive tummy has adjusted well.

30% Dust and who knows what? mold?!

I've used Canidea off and on over the past 10 years but I gave it a try again recently and was VERY DISAPPOINTED because the whole bag is full of crumbled dog food

I've used Canidea off and on over the past 10 years but I gave it a try again recently and was VERY DISAPPOINTED because the whole bag is full of crumbled dog food or basically food dust and of course my dogs won't eat it. Sadly, I didn't notice it because my husband mostly feeds them but I quickly figured it out when they wouldn't eat it and then I figured out why... it looks and smells disgusting. Shame on Canidae or Chewy for not updating their stock and selling possibly expired food. Possible causes could either be storage mites or expired food... fresh dog food doesn't react like this from shipping alone.

After feeding Science Diet my dogs often suffered loose stools, dry hair, & when they did not have loose stools extreme gas we decided it was time to change to something better. Not to mention the price of SD had went up. With many weeks of research & waiting for our large bag to run out we choose Canidae above many of the other premium brands I am happy to report my fur babies are doing great. No more gas, loose stools and their coats are now full of shine! I also breed & raise Shih Tzu & Yorkshire Terrier puppies I send each & every puppy home on Canidae we do mix it with Holistic Select but I do not mix but 2 cups of HS per 5 pounds Canidae. I order 3 of the 44# bags and with 10 small dogs we go through 1 of the 44# bags a month and every 2 weeks. I will continue to feed Canidae and send each puppy home with a bag as well. I have even convinced a few family members to make the change over to Canidae and their dogs have been also doing great! My dogs love the Canidae Treats as well!

I have used this dog food for over 9 years!! I first started buying this back when I lived in Texas from a small store you'd never think they would sell this food

I have used this dog food for over 9 years!! I first started buying this back when I lived in Texas from a small store you'd never think they would sell this food. But she was a show dog breeder of Weimaraners and highly recommended this food. She fed it to her dogs and she owned the small store where she sold it. I fed it to my Yorkies and when I had Yorkie puppies I fed it to them. I also had a senior Chihuahua and fed it to her. It is the perfect food. It's blended perfect for dogs of all ages, puppies, adults and seniors. My dogs have always had the perfect diet off this food and never any upset stomachs or skin problems. I always have a small bag to each family that bought my puppies. I've had over 30 puppies and no one ever complained about the food or had problems with it. So far this food hasn't had any recalls or problems. Since moving to Florida I had found a store I could purchase it from and then they no longer carried it. So I tried Wilderness by Blue Buffalo on my dogs and they had the worst upset stomachs and two of my dogs refused to eat it. I found chewy.com and they had Canidae and I ordered it asap and got it on autoship to make sure my dogs will always have their food available. As soon as we got the order I gave them the food and everyone chewed down. I was sooooo happy! I don't want them having upset stomachs or starving because they don't like the other foods. So thank goodness for chewy.com. :-)

I have a very active 3 yr old Doberman (what Dobe isn't active?) and a 7 yr old Pom. The small kibble of this food allows me to feed it to both of them. They've now been on this food for more than a year. Both devour the food and are at a healthy weight. The Dobe (76 lbs), who gets 2 cups twice a day, is a blue, which are prone to skin problems and hair loss. While her coat isn't the same as a black Dobe, it is looking clear and pretty full. I'm not going to say it's luxurious because it's not. But for a blue she looks great and I receive compliments all the time on her aesthetics. The Pom (4.25 lbs) has tiny teeth and breaking apart the kibble is a non-issue. I give her 1/16 cup twice a day - I use a scoop that came with a protein powder I used to have (for me, not the pups). My only reservation of this food is that the Dobe's stool is very soft and can be messy to pick up, which it was on her last brand of food too. In reading reviews for Canidae, I thought the issue would be fixed. The Pom's stool is fine.

We rescued an American Staffordshire Bull Terrier about 3 months ago. Within the first month of having him, we noticed his coat was fading from a dark black to a lighter brown color, and he was developing black spots on his coat. He had dry skin on his hind quarter that was itchy and flaky. We researched food and ended up switching to this one. We are signed up for the auto ship and he's on his second bag. About three weeks ago, I literally started seeing his coat return to a beautiful shiny black. I highly recommend this food. So glad we switched and the auto ship is so convenient. It ships directly to our door each month. We get a reminder a few days before it ships, in case we need to change the day. Completely satisfied!

highly recommend this expensive food

I felt like the biggest sucker on the planet when I first bought this food from my groomer but am so glad I did (I have since found it a few dollars cheaper on Chewy)

I felt like the biggest sucker on the planet when I first bought this food from my groomer but am so glad I did (I have since found it a few dollars cheaper on Chewy). I have measured my dogs food for years but they still tended to be over weight and lazy(ish). This is nasty but they also used to poop big and eat their poop. I've been using Canidae since February 2018 and my dogs have slimmed down (it seems like I'm not feeding enough but there are days where they don't eat an entire meal - just leave it in the bowl). They poop smaller and not as often - and best of all is they no longer eat poop! These things (including leaving food in their bowls - and I measure exactly what the bag suggests) tell me they must be getting the right nutrition - and they love to go on walks and play again.

My pack loves CANIDAE PAWS! I have two dogs. Teddy came from the shelter very fat! I tried him on another brand of high quality food, and he just gained more weight. At the same time we got Toby, an Airedale puppy. I was afraid to feed puppy food because I was afraid that my fat boy would gain even more. I decided on the all life stages so I didn't have to separate them to feed. Teddy lots ten pounds in six months and he eats as much as he wants whenever he wants. Toby is now a full grown airedale terrier and is training to be an agility dog. I again didn't want to have to change his food for his higher activity. Toby is eating 6-7 cups a day now and he is in wonderful shape and has beautiful muscle tone. Teddy is still losing weight and our vet loves it! Thank you CANIDAE PAWS. Two different dogs with two different needs, and one big bag of high quality dog food. What's not to like about that?

Recently Changed Formula

We struggled with poop issues with our Boxer from the time he came home. FINALLY at 10 months old we got things nailed down with Canidae's All Stages, multi-protein formula. I could not believe how incredibly passionate I had become about solid dog poop, it was embarrassing. However with Canidae we FINALLY we had achieved it beautifully solid poop. And then they changed the formula and it all fell apart. You can write "Same Formula" on a bag but a Boxer's stomach will rat you out every time. We tried to use the new bag and although it claimed it was the same formula it definitely is not. If you have a dog with a normal digestive system this may not be an issue for you- I'm guessing most dogs just eat new food and still poop normally. I will spare you a graphic description but solid it was not. The first few ingredients are different (from the old label to the new one) and the Guaranteed Analysis numbers are different as well. The fat increased from 10% to 14.5% which, percentage-wise, is pretty significant. Three months later we are still on the hunt for a new food that will once again produce swoon-worthy poop.

My dog is a little over two year old Toy Australian Shepherd. The last year she has been a picky eater. I've fed her wet food in the morning, than she had unlimited Pro Plan Savory Chicken(nothing against Pro Plan my other dog does great on it). She would hardly eat, and could feel her spine. She's a very active dog, and wasn't lacking energy. She has now been on this food for over a month. She finishes her serving in one or two sittings, and is looking for more. I feed her according to the directions(3/4 - 1 cup a day). She has now gained weight and is looking healthy! Loving this product!
