Are these no-melt in warmer temps?

Answer by LeslieAug 18, 2025
Yes, the Denver area's temperature can reach the 90s at times. The suet is under a tree, but it catches the sun. I've tried other brands, and this is the only one that does not melt.

What are the dimensions of the unpackaged suet cake?

I took off the label but do you take it out of the plastic tray before you put it in the metal screen

Answer by ChewyApr 27, 2019
The food does not have to be taken out of the packaging.

How many cakes?

Answer by ChewyNov 23, 2020

Comparatively speaking for suet cakes the price is excellent, and the birds in my backyard eat them up. So it's all good. On a side note, putting them in my upsidedown feeder, hung from a tree so the few downy woodpeckers and nuthatches would have this feeder all to themselves , because supposedly the sparrows and starlings don't like feeding upside dwon has been a complete failure. The starlings struggle to deed from it, but do it in mass when other feeders are emptying out, and the sparrows could careless anbout eating upside down. They are not as graceful as woodpeckers doing it, but they mob that suet feeder just as much as my regular feeder, so ,y other birds stilll have to wait for a time when the mobs of starlings and sparrows are not around to get what's left of the suet.

The birds love this!

I’ve never had so many birds go after suet like they do with this one. The woodpeckers love it, and so do the sparrows.

I had all but given up on suet cakes, because the only birds that ever used them were goldfinches, which we only host in winter here in the florida panhandle. Once they leave in March, the suet cakes always sit unused until they mildew or melt in the heat. I decided to give these a try last fall, and my goodness at the way ALL our songbirds LOVE this suet! Chickadees, Titmice, wrens, even cardinals...they gobbled these up in just a week or so! And the goldfinches love it, too.

This suet draws alot of different birds in especially since it got to cold. 3 different kinds of Woodpeckers, my beautiful Cardinals, a few Blue Jay's, Thrashers and Red Winged Blackbirds. Great product! My niece cuts the cake in 1/2 so she can make it last longer.

Good quality suet, many critters like it!

Squirrels seemed to like the peanut suet at first, but birds and squirrels did not seem totally thrilled by the peanut suet mix--like, they did NOT gobble it up,

Squirrels seemed to like the peanut suet at first, but birds and squirrels did not seem totally thrilled by the peanut suet mix--like, they did NOT gobble it up, as I expected. Might try a different mix, maybe more corn, or sunflower seed?

I live in the Piedmont of North Carolina, and the birds around here are loving this! I got this suet and the very berry. Both are being munched on daily now. It took maybe two weeks for them to figure out it’s good, but now that they know they are chowing down. It’s lasting a while too!

The Brown's High Energy Suet is the type and brand preferred by the birds in my yard! We have orioles, cardinals, blue jays, blue birds and a wide variety of woodpeckers. Other brands seem to take a few days to be eaten up, but these are gone in less than a day. The price is good, though, so we put one out at least once a day (or more). Purchased some other flavors by Brown in my last order and will see if they are also so favored.

Wild bird suet for year round use

The wild birds we feed in the back yard are attracted to suet year round. It is a healthy part of feeding wild birds. We put suet cakes out weekly and it helps
