FAQ
Bravecto is the only flea and tick treatment to last 12 weeks* with one convenient chew or topical dose. That means nearly 3X longer lasting protection than common monthly treatments. The long-lasting efficacy breaks the flea life cycle and drives fleas into extinction with one dose. And, Bravecto kills ticks faster, killing 100% of attached ticks in 12 hours – whereas other treatments can take over 48 hours.
After you give your pet Bravecto, it quickly reaches tissue fluids just under your dog's or cat's skin. When fleas and ticks feed, they ingest Bravecto and die. Bravecto Chew for Dogs starts killing fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) within 2 hours, and kills ticks (Ixodes ricinus) within 12 hours. Bravecto Chew for Dogs kills fleas, prevents flea infestations, and kills ticks (black-legged tick, American dog tick and brown dog tick) for 12 weeks. Bravecto Chew for Dogs also kills lone star ticks for 8 weeks.
In a US field study where dogs were treated at home, over 93% of dogs ate the chew voluntarily - either by itself or with food.
Bravecto has a wide margin of safety in dogs who weigh at least 4.4 lbs. and cats who weigh at least 2.6 lbs. It is also approved for puppies and kittens aged 6 months or older.
There are no problems reported in field trials in dogs and cats that received Bravecto alongside other commonly used medicines. However, your veterinarian is your pet's health care expert, so it is always best to discuss all of your pet's treatments with them, whether prescription or over-the-counter supplements.
Immediately bathing, shampooing, or swimming should not affect how well Bravecto Chew works, as it is not a topical treatment. Coat length and grooming or brushing also have no impact on how well it works.
No.
Yes.
Adverse events have been reported following use of Bravecto (fluralaner) Chews in breeding females. The following reproductive adverse events have been reported following use of Bravecto (fluralaner) Chews: birth defects (including limb deformities and cleft palate), stillbirth, and abortion.
The product insert states that Bravecto should be administered orally as a single dose. In the case that a chew is broken or crumbles, it should be assured that the dog still receives the whole dose.
Bravecto Chew for Dogs should be given with food. If a chew is broken, it should be assured that the dog still receives the whole dose.
In a well-controlled laboratory study, Bravecto was shown to be safe in Collies known to be MDR-1 gene-deficient. Collies with the defect were administered 3 times the deliverable dose and had no adverse events.
If vomiting occurs, check with your veterinarian to decide whether to re-dose or not; however, if an otherwise healthy dog vomits within 3 hours of receiving Bravecto, it is recommended that the dog be re-dosed. To help ensure that the dog does not vomit again, it is suggested to wait 24 hours until re-dosing.
If 4 or more hours have passed before the vomiting occurs, it is likely that the medication has been absorbed and the dog is protected. If the vomiting repeats again, do not give a third chew, and call your veterinarian.
If you suspect that a side effect has taken place as a result of giving the dog Bravecto, please report it to Merck Technical Services at 1-800-224-5318, and follow any advice that they provide.
It is always best to discuss your pets' medical treatment with your veterinarian. However, Bravecto has a high margin of safety. In safety studies, Bravecto was tested in healthy dogs and puppies at up to 5X the recommended dose at 8-week intervals for 3 treatments. Therefore, no adverse effects are expected if dogs are inadvertently treated twice with the recommended dose within 12 weeks, but please contact your veterinarian.
Yes. Bravecto Chew for Dogs is vet recommended for puppies and dogs 6 months of age or older who weigh at least 4.4. lbs.

While I love Bravecto for the amount of time it works (12 weeks) and the fact that it's a chewable medication which is always a plus, getting my dogs to eat it is a battle. Look, my dogs literally eat cat poop as a sneaky snack. I've caught them eating cat puke, old bad duck eggs outside, etc but they HATE the taste of the Bravecto. It's to the point I have to cut it into tiny pieces and force feed them to them by sticking the pieces into the back of their throats and praying they swallow . I've tried hiding the pieces in cheese, ice cream, lunch meat, meatballs, etc and they spit them out every single time Both dogs, not just one. Please work on the taste, or justake it into a swallowable pill because I'm doing the work if them anyway. Otherwise, it's perfect for flea and tick prevention.

So I had a surplus of heartworm and Flea n tick meds, we lost our 2 oldest Doberman fur babies between End f August and December of last year. It was a very rough time for our family. We stopped buying the treats etc for a while. We still have to Doberman fur babies but we had not updated the profile on chewy. We did that in July because we needed to order more flea and tick Meds. About 3 days later I got a big g surprise delivery- flowers from Chewy for sympathy for the loss of our pampered pups! Wow our whole family was taken back and so humbled by how sensitive chewy staff were to our loss! Thank you being that company! Customers for life! Very impressed It takes a lot to both surprise and impress me. Chewy accomplished both! Well done Chewy staff!

Bravecto Works Wonders! Our dog Abby had a serious tick problem about six months ago, and Bravecto was a game-changer. Within days, ticks were falling off and she finally had relief. We also treated our home with a pest company, but Bravecto made the biggest difference. Now any ticks we find are dead and no longer feeding on her. We keep her on a regular Bravecto schedule and haven’t had problems since. So thankful for this product!

I have no complaints about the product, the website, or the ordering experience. I appreciate how easy Chewy makes it to order medications for my dogs. However, I don't know what delivery service Chewy uses but the delivery person ignored three signs on my doors asking that deliveries be placed in a Delivery Box purchased for this very reason. Rather, the delivery person left the package on the doorstep and our 18-month old collie Bella damaged the box (see attached photo) and accessed the contents, which were strewn around the yard. While some of the foils packs were punctured, none of the medications were destroyed, so I have the product I need. But I may not be so lucky next time. If you have any control over the delivery personnel or service, I hope you will address this with them. Thank you.
Highly reccomended

I have been using Bravecto 12 week chews for 15 years. We raise Dogue De Bordeaux and recommend this product and Chewy to all of our puppy families. Before Bravecto we struggled with keeping fleas and ticks off our fur babies. Spot treatments were scary with toddlers, and never quite seemed to work. Chewy makes purchasing and receiving my prescriptions convenient, and they always arrive in good shape and quickly.
5 stars and 5 cheers for Chewy!

Our dog has been on this medication for years. It's convenient that he only has to take it every 3 months to prevent ticks because giving him medicine is a BATTLE. But I want to share how amazing Chewy is! For some reason, there was a mix-up with addresses and the medicine was shipped to our previous house... on the other side of the country. When I contacted Chewy to see if anything could be done, a pharmacy tech responded within a few hours and they resent the medication the next day, not even charging us again. Bravecto is $90 per dose so that was even more appreciated. Seriously the whole thing was so smooth. Chewy's customer service alone has made us lifelong customers :)
Perfect protection

I was hesitant for years to give my dogs, oral flea medication because of the negative things I had heard about dogs getting sick or dying this type of medication. However, Roberto seems to have changed its formulation, and I have no fears or concerns now about giving this medication to my dogs. That’s a huge relief, because the fleas were very much resistant to all of the topical that I had tried, and there’s nothing worse than a flea outbreak in your home. I highly recommend this product. I don’t only give this product to my large dogs, but I also give it to my two small dogs, one who has kidney disease and the other who has diabetes. I have had no problems.

I have found Chewy to be a fine organization with good products and great service people. However, we have an ongoing delivery problem despite several attempts to correct it. The deliver food and medications by dropping them in the middle of our entry sidewalk 10 feet from a covered entry way. We live in AZ where summer weather includes temperatures in excess of 110 often followed by heavy ‘monsoon’ downpours. The meds instructions say temps should not exceed 85 to maintain efficacy. The last time I spoke with a rep they listened politely and offered to resend. They did and it was delivered in exactly the same place. In the sun at 110 degrees. This is not a convenience issue. I don’t mind walking an extra ten steps. I do mind getting an expensive medication that may be compromised.
Works very well!

My dog does not just eat the Bravecto chews like he does the Heartguard. I break it into 4 pieces, add peanut butter to cover them, and he eats it. This product works, though, so worth the little bit of extra time to feed it to him. I have used it since we adopted him from a shelter 2022. Never had fleas, and though I have found DEAD ticks on his bed, I never find a tick biting him (and we have tons of ticks on our large property!) Very effective treatment! The dog is 80 pounds of lab mix mutt, and we are prescribed the corresponding dose. I put a recurring reminder in my phone calender, and edit it as “done” when I give it, so easy to remember. It helps that Chewy sends it before I need it automatically, and they will ask for a new RX when needed. Easy peasy.
It's insecticide!

I have two labs ages 5 and 7. Gave them both this flea treatment at 1am Oct 19, 2023 and by 9am Oct 20, 2023 the 5yo, 80lb, was acting weird, sniffing strangely and looking uncomfortable. When I gave him his breakfast at 11am he was eating slowly and looked off, then suddenly came and leaned into me and looked pained. Within 15 minutes he suffered ataxia and wasnt fully responsive. by the time my fiance came to lift him in the car 5 minutes later he was peeing and pooping all over himself and the floor. Ultimately he died at rhe vet after several treatments and a seizure that left him comatose. The ER vet and the toxixologist service didn't believe it was bravecto because i noticed symptoms close to 30 hrs after ingestion instead of within 24 hrs. Necropsy report was inconclusive, tbey and the vet said he must've gotten into a plant or insect killer. No kidding, bravecto IS insecticide. Now my baby died a horrific painful death at just 5 years old and my kid won't get to grow up with him. Most dogs probably won't have visible reactions to this meds but if they do, they will suffer horrendously and may lose their life. If you must use a chemical treatment, find something that's been on the market much longer and pick something topical if possible. Don't feed your animals poison!
