where is the food made from?

Answer by ChewyJun 30, 2018
All Blue Buffalo products are manufactured in the United States. Many of their ingredients, such as most grains and meats, like chicken, beef and turkey come from the United States. Lamb and venison can be free range from the United States or New Zealand. Rabbit is sourced from Europe, and trout can come from the United States or Canada. Where possible Blue's suppliers are instructed to source their ingredients from the United States. Where the ingredients are not readily available in the United States, such as many vitamins and minerals, their suppliers will only work with reliable foreign companies, and subject all ingredients to rigorous quality testing. None of the ingredients are sourced from China.

Are the meats in this formula hormone-free?

Answer by ChewyApr 24, 2018
The meats used in Blue Buffalo products do not contain any antibiotics or added hormones.

According to your answer to question of byproducts on this formula, dated 3/3/20 you answered All Blue Buffalo foods are formulated without the use of chicken or poultry by-product meals." However, if you read the label the second ingredient is clearly "chicken meal". Could you please explain???

Answer by ChewySep 01, 2020
Blue Buffalo does not use chicken/poultry by-product meals in their formulas. By-products are the identified meat, plus some of the internal organs. An example of this would be chicken by-products, which would consist of chicken meat, plus some of the internal organs. Meal is the dry rendered product from a combination of clean chicken flesh and skin with or without accompanying bone, derived from whole carcasses of chicken, exclusive of feathers, heads, feet and entrails. The Meal is used as a source of high protein.

My Aussie has been eating winderness since he was a lil puppy. When I first got him from the breeder they had him on diamond and he would not eat. When I originally choose wilderness it was because he wasn’t eating and I wanted to pack in the nutrients as much as possible. I switched him to wilderness and he ate! His favorite flavor is for sure the chicken! I let him try the “Rocky Mountain Recipe —red meat” and he wasn’t a fan like he is with the chicken. He is almost 2 and has been eating the food he once loved in puppy formula in adult formula for the past year. I have no complaints! He’s still not a huge eater, eats about 1 1/2 cups a day split into two meals, so high protein and other nutrients is still a priority for me. His vet has even asked me what I feed him because his weight is ideal and his coat is so pretty.

This version of Blue is not on the list of foods that cause heart problems. I’m transitioning from Royal Canin Giant Adult which my Danes don’t like because the size of the piece is very big. RC also was having supply chain problems. BW causes very slightly looser poops so I put rice in with the food. I need to use less food since the kibble is in smaller pieces thus more kibble in each serving, which helps with the enormous food budget. I also use the puppy version for the 6 months old German Shepherd.

Our little 7 pound papillon is now 14 months old and ready for adult food. We ordered this as it is the same brand/line of food as her puppy brand and SHE LOVES IT! The recommendations we’ve got was to mix half her puppy food and half the new food together so she can easy into the transition of food and check out this photo! I could hardly wait to show yinz! She can’t be fooled, she ate all her new big girl food and left the puppy food behind! After realizing she ate all the adult version she finished her puppy kibble but I thought you all should know (:

My Yorkie was scratching all the time. I changed to Blue and with in a week she stopped. I have used this food for over a yr. and she has not scratched. She used to shake all the time. Like she was wet from the rain. She has stopped this also. I will never change. I have a Yorkie puppy and have started her on Blue and has NO problems. Thank you BLUE

We recently rescued our second dog Josie and she was being feed a cheap brand of dog food made up of all grains & fillers. She had skin irritation issues and her stools were massive. Since switching her to this food, her skin is clearing up, her stools are much smaller, she's eating much less and her coat just shines. Our other dog Daisy has been eating the puppy version of this brand for the last year and it has been tremendous for her as well. Both of our girls are now on this formula and will continue to be for many years to come.

When we brought our puppy home he was on Merrick (what the owner at the time gave him) and he didn't seem to eat at all and if he did it was not much. I bought a small bag 1st of the Blue Buffalo Wilderness and he LOVES IT. He was 4 months when we picked him up and he is now 8 months and we will only feed him Blue Buffalo. We even only get there treats. He is a Boston Terrier and needs grain free food. This has been a great product.

Apollo is now 5 years old when he was a puppy his stomach was very sensitive to things he ate (still is) , we tried many different brands alot ge didnt like then we tried Blue wilderness and he loved it . We where so happy that it was good for him and he really loves it. He has put grown all his litter mates and his parents and we believe most of his growth came from his food he has grown up eating. He never tires of his food. Best choice for us all.

I have only just started with Blue Buffalo and did so becasue it is highly recommended. I noticed when first opening the bag that it smelled pretty good and the dogs really perked up too, acting more enthusiastic than ever. They really enjoyed it. I am looking forward to seeing the long term results. I chose the grain free as one of the dogs tends to get rashes off and on and doesn't seem to have that problem with the grain free.

Blue wilderness is the only thing I'll feed my dog. Ive trusted blue for years and have never ever been disappointed. He's at a very healthy weight, good muscle tone, very very shiny healthy coat, and great energy level. My dog is a 1.5 year old pitbull. He loves this food. He gets 4 cups a day and always cleans his bowl. I'm super glad I found chewy so I don't have to go out of my way to find his food at stores now!

I have an 8 year old Great Pyrenees that has had skin and coat problems since early on. I have tried almost all store bought brands and all I ended up with is a dog that didn't eat much scratched regulary and got yeast infections(from what I know comes from diet in the intestines) I did try another grain free food but after 2 recalls I switched. My dog had gotten so bad this year that she smelled unbeleivably awlful and scratched so much people kept asking if she had mange. After receiving this product the smell went away within 2 days, her coat is starting to get whiter again (what she had left) and she is growing hair back. Usually she always had food in her dish for when she wanted to eat but now every morning she nudges me to put a few tsps. of oil on her food (which I started to help her coat a little before but now is a treat for her) and eats the entire dish. She enjoys the smaller kibble although she is an 80 lb. dog and now eats 2 times a day every day and is much healthier and healthier looking.
