I was impressed right away with how well this food was packaged. It arrived frozen in a pouch and was packed extremely well inside the box with plenty of insulation and dry ice to keep everything properly frozen during shipping. I gradually introduced the small meatballs into my dogs’ regular food, and the reaction was immediate. The bowls were cleaned up quickly, which is always a good sign that they approve! The meatballs are a great size for my two 13-lb Havanese—small enough for them to eat comfortably and easy for them to digest. Since both of my dogs are seniors, the soft texture is a big benefit. It’s much easier for them to chew compared to harder foods, and I like that it still provides a fresh, wholesome option. Overall, this has been a great addition to their meals. Between the careful packaging, convenient frozen format, and the fact that my dogs clearly enjoy it, I would definitely recommend it for other small or senior dogs.

I was excited to try this food. I have three dogs: Scooter, who will eat just about anything; Dexter, who definitely has his preferences; and Rocky, the pickiest dog I’ve ever owned. The food itself is very similar in texture and size to other fresh options you’ll find in grocery or pet stores. The ingredients look high quality, and you can actually see what’s in it — peas, carrots, etc. It doesn’t have an unpleasant smell, which I appreciate with fresh foods. It can be fed on its own, mixed half-and-half, or used as a kibble topper, and there are feeding guidelines for each option. You can heat it or serve it as is. Personally, I was most excited to use it as a topper — that’s where I felt it would really shine. But of course, what really matters is what the dogs think. Scooter loved it. No surprise there. Dexter was… unimpressed. The first night he ate a little, but by the second night he wasn’t interested at all. Rocky flat-out refused to eat it. That doesn’t mean it’s not a good food. I do think it works better paired with kibble rather than fed exclusively. Like most fresh pet foods, it’s on the expensive side, and once opened the shelf life is short (about seven days). I’d love to say I recommend it for picky eaters, but since two out of my three weren’t fans, I can’t honestly make that claim. If you don’t have a picky eater (lucky you!), I would absolutely recommend this as an occasional topper to make mealtime a little more exciting and less “just another bowl of kibble.”

I love Blue Buffalo products. I can always guarantee that I am getting a good product. The size of the bag is perfect to keep in the refrigerator. I also like the ability to freeze the bags. I mix this in with my dogs regular dry food. They like the soft bits of food. I assume it has a good flavor because they dance around when I pull out the bag. The ingredients are real chicken and veggies. I can feel good about feeding my furry kids this product.

The dogs love this food. Although it is meant for small dogs, I also used it as a topper for my two big dogs. All three really like it. It's completely digestible with no ill effects. Although the chunks are a little too large for my old toothless Shih Tzu, I merely chopped the nuggets into smaller pieces for him. All in all, a hit with all three.
