Our 14 year old Bichon has slowed down quite a bit. I read about Badlands Ranch while I was researching better nutrition for her. Because the food is quite expensive, we were going to use it as a topper for her food. With one serving, Pixie decided she was only eating Badlands Ranch. She used to walk several blocks each evening. She had recently withered down to one block. Now she back up to two blocks and I’m hoping with time, she’ll add more. She seems more alert and has wanted to play. It’s good to see her getting some stamina back.

My big boy has problems in this area with certain foods, so its nice to have one without those affects. The pieces are medium sized, and have a texture that I've never seen in a dog food but it was doggo approved!

As a pet owner, I can't say enough good things about the Badlands Ranch Superfood Complete Grain-Free Wild Fish & Turkey Air Dried Dog Food. My dog absolutely loves it! The moment I opened the bag, I could tell this was a high-quality product. The air-dried pieces are easy to handle and don't have that strong, off-putting smell that some other dog foods have. What really impressed me is the ingredient list. It's packed with real fish and turkey, and there are no fillers like corn, soy, or wheat. This is perfect for my dog, who has a sensitive stomach and can't tolerate those ingredients. The addition of superfoods like sweet potatoes, pumpkin, and blueberries is a huge plus. I feel good knowing that I'm giving my dog a nutritious meal that supports her overall health. The convenience factor is also a big win. Since it's air-dried, I don't have to worry about refrigeration or adding water. It's perfect for travel or when we're on the go. Plus, the high protein content keeps my dog full and satisfied. These are very hard and I think they're a little large at least for my dog. When soaked in hot water, they have a jerky-like consistency. They don't really soften
These are very hard and I think they're a little large at least for my dog. When soaked in hot water, they have a jerky-like consistency. They don't really soften up like a freeze dry dog food does. They do make a good treat, and I can snap some apart to make smaller sizes for my little dog. Some are longer strips, which would be fine for a larger dog as a food, but a little big for meals for smaller breeds. I bought the largest bag, I don't know how long this bag would last for bigger breeds. The large size is adequate for our 14 year old 12 lb. Pin-chi. Being older, she has gotten picky, but seems to like these if broken apart or mixed with something softer. However, she has had about 16 teeth removed, so it makes it more difficult to chew harder food. She still chews on stuff, but prefers softer food as a meal. Even though she seems to enjoy the flavor, she struggles with the texture, even when hydrated. I purchased this and a freeze dried brand, and while I think this brand has far better ingredients, she just won't eat enough if it as a primary part of a meal. I toss a small amount in with the freeze dried and soaked it all in hot water, so she has some of the benefits of the ingredients. I don't know if I can justify the cost for her while also spending more on the other freeze dried brand she can eat more easily. For now I will finish this bag off by continuing to add a little bit to her main meal breaking it up for small treats. But, I may not purchase more. I don't want to discourage anyone who has a dog with good teeth. If your dog has no issues with hard food, harder than regular dog food, they should have no issues, and the dogs would love the flavor. I have given them as treats to friends dogs and they gobble them down. One was a 12 year old poodle mix with all his teeth and the other, a young Jack Russell who thought they were mana from heaven. I sure wish they were softer because this would be my food if choice for every meal.

But I do like how clean and healthy this food it. Just wish it was more practically affordable. It's like making a choice between going bankrupt of trying to give your dog a longer healthier life. My veterinarian recommended going away from the beef super food my dog had been eating due to tooth decay from stomach, but recommended turkey and or wild salmon,

I called Badlands ranch and emailed support@badlandsranch.com as suggested asking to confirm ingredients of types of fish used. NO ANSWER since January 2025 TWO emails and it’s now 3/31/25. Still researching but found wellness formula and using the salmon treats from badlands. The worst is not getting answers regarding the ingredients!!!

I use it as a treat and topper for this reason. It is also a premium, grain-free brand aimed at adult dogs, not puppies so I ended up getting Raised Right for them instead.
