What is English style riding?

English style riding is a style of horseback riding that uses its own type of tack, riding technique and dress style. In contrast to Western style riding, the saddle is lighter and more compact in English style riding and the rider uses both hands to control the reins. English style riding also encompasses specific riding disciplines, including dressage, jumping and eventing.
