Is this 15 oz or 15lbs?

Answer by ChewyAug 03, 2019
At this time, this food only comes in a 15 pound bag.

Is the plastic bag the food comes in eco-friendly (recyclable/biodegradable)?

Answer by ChewyAug 25, 2025
According to Audubon Park, this brand is conscious of the impacts of plastics in our ecosystem and is actively pursuing alternatives that can withstand the requirements for manufacturing, shipping, and durability — while still making the product affordable for consumers. Most of the products are Poly-Woven bags, which are #7 and are not recyclable. Multiple states have enacted conflicting laws regarding what types of materials can be claimed as recyclable. At the same time, there is a Federal Truth in Labeling bill under consideration that would have different standards for how to label and when a label is appropriate. Until the federal law is enacted, manufacturers like Audubon Park are not able to reliably comply with the different state laws, so they are choosing not to print any claims on the packaging. Symbols like the well-known “chasing arrows” symbol are being banned in some states. Therefore, Audubon Park has opted not to label any packaging and will await further guidance from the federal government or for the states to align on allowable claims.

I had never used this product before. But when 3 squirrels started visiting my bird feeder numerous times a day, I knew I needed different food. The squirrels were beneath the feeder and on the feeder. The Bluejays, Woodpeckers crows and squirrels all ate together.

A crowd pleaser

This bag came very fresh and the birds and squirrels love it. We mix it with cardinal delight, extra peanuts and sunflower kernels.

Like others have said - my squirrels won’t eat the corn and the amount of sunflower seeds makes a huge mess. Out of a 15lb bag there was roughly 30 peanuts in the shell and they were tiny. Kind of amazed at how small they were. I dumped it in the woods as the mess was excessive and need a higher yield food for the coming winter that will sustain my little squirrel family.

80% sunflower seeds 10% corn 4% peanuts 3% in shell but they are ALL BROKEN and 3% random dirt/crumbs and sticks. So disappointed and having to pick out random sticks

The pictures of what is in this mix showed both shelled nuts and nuts in shell. But it mostly has sunflower seeds and whole corn. I've been feeding out of this bag for a while now, and have encountered only ONE peanut in a shell, and very few shelled peanuts. So it's filled with cheaper things. You'd be better off buying separate bags of corn and sunflower seeds and peanuts to get the right proportion of peanuts for the price.

Rotten mess

Very poor quality. Looks like the stuff is rotten. Opted to throw it in the garbage so as to not make the birds and squirrels sick.

Squirrels, Chipmunks and Birds

My little critters love the food! So much so the squirrels will climb into the feeder to get the food!

This was once fantastic. Don't let the photo fool you. In the entire bag - no exaggeration - there were 2 peanut shells - one had a peanut in it. Maybe the other peanut was hiding in the mix. All we got was a bunch of sunflower seeds and dried corn kernels. This is what we got the last few times. This time I was tempted by the photo which shows more peanuts and some other things. I also bought a different brand this time, but did not use it yet. It is more expensive but who cares? It looks better in the bag anyhow. So, I have to buy something. I'll decide after the test. The animals still like the stuff, but I want them to have a choice. I put this around gravestones so that the animals will visit when I cannot.

The birds are happy with anything I put out for them. But I wasn't happy to see the amount of corn in the blend. Otherwise, I think it is a good value and helps keep those birds/critters that cannot or will not use a bird feeder content.
