Important Safety Information

Do not use Apoquel or Apoquel Chewable in dogs less than 12 months of age or those with serious infections. Apoquel and Apoquel Chewable may increase the chances of developing serious infections, and may cause existing parasitic skin infestations or pre-existing cancers to get worse. Consider the risks and benefits of treatment in dogs with a history of recurrence of these conditions. Apoquel and Apoquel Chewable have not been tested in dogs receiving some medications including some commonly used to treat skin conditions such as corticosteroids and cyclosporines. Highly recommended for allergy sensitive dogs

I rescued a small chihuahua that did not have any hair, skin smelled even after baths, and she scratched so bad even in her sleep. The vet wanted to do blood work and prescribe other medicines when I knew it was allergies and her nutritional intake. I started her on a high protein grain free diet and this medicine and she immediately improved. She stopped scratching, her hair grew back, and she doesnt have that horrible smell to her skin. Highly recommend using this product for allergy sensitive pets.

Miracle worker!

I was at my wits end with my chiweenie’s allergies. One of her ears was raw and bloody from her constant scratching. We tried cones but her ears would not heal

I was at my wits end with my chiweenie’s allergies. One of her ears was raw and bloody from her constant scratching. We tried cones but her ears would not heal. The vet gave me ointment to put on her ears but she would freak out if I touched it or tried to spray anything on it. She was miserable and we were miserable for her. I started researching stuff myself and read about Apoquel and asked the vet for a prescription. That was the absolute best decision I ever made! By that night, she wasn’t scratching as much. Within a week her ear was looking great. I was able to slowly taper her down on the dosage. She is now at 1/2 pill every other day. I’d like to get her down more eventually. I wait a month to give each dose a chance and then go down a bit more the next one to see if she tolerates it. I know the medication is pricey but it is so worth it! She’s a happy dog again!

Apoquel and Purina HA have been fantastic in managing Dakota’s allergies over the last few years but we’ll be discontinuing year-round use. He’s getting up there

Apoquel and Purina HA have been fantastic in managing Dakota’s allergies over the last few years but we’ll be discontinuing year-round use. He’s getting up there in age and the last thing I want is to unintentionally give him a death sentence by suppressing his immune system when he needs it most. Chewy was fast and efficient at delivering his meds but their price is still extremely cost prohibitive. This shouldn’t be cheaper at other online pharmacies like Bandana when you’re the #1 online pet retailer in America.

I rate this 3 stars because it significantly alleviated my German Shepherd's allergies. However, he developed REALLY bad anxiety. He began hiding in the closet, retreating to the basement to lie down, and just behaving very oddly. We tried EVERYTHING, and eventually, my vet mentioned that she had heard of this pill causing such side effects. We discontinued it, and he immediately returned to his normal self unfortunately, the itching resumed, so we had to reintroduce it. Bam! Anxiety returned, hiding in closets, and so on. I didn't want him on this medication any longer, so we changed his diet, and now the allergies are gone. His diet consists of Victor sensitive skin and stomach, the fish one, and I make a food topper of salmon and beef liver that I mix myself. Allergies are gone he's allergic to chicken, beef, and turkey. each time we introduced this pill, anxiety was heightened

The last medication my elderly dog will ever take

My 14 y/o Olde English Bulldogge, Zilla, has struggled with skin/stomach/eye/ear/paw issues for a majority of her adult life. After 10s of thousands of dollars spent

My 14 y/o Olde English Bulldogge, Zilla, has struggled with skin/stomach/eye/ear/paw issues for a majority of her adult life. After 10s of thousands of dollars spent on pet insurance, vet bills, and medications, it finally feels like I've found a real solution. It's not a cheap solution, but it's cheaper and actually works without going through the yo-yoing of putting her on antibiotics/steroids when things went from bad to worse and then running out and having her go back to being miserable. Apoquel has COMPLETELY resolved ALL of Zilla's skin issues. All of her neck and belly hair has grown back, her ears are no longer swollen/smelly/eminent infection (she can hear again!), and the space between the pads of her paws look like they did when she was a puppy. No more sneezing and her eyes are less red and irritated. The only side effect I've seen, other than all the positive ones, is dry mouth. I don't usually leave reviews but felt driven to share given the life changing effect it's had for my old girl. It's a no-brainer for me despite it's price--given her age and wanting to make the absolute most of her golden years.

Vet recommended

My dog has had terrible allergies with her feet and they were bleeding and scabby and just awful! Her poor belly was beet red and scabby and I’ve had her to vet

My dog has had terrible allergies with her feet and they were bleeding and scabby and just awful! Her poor belly was beet red and scabby and I’ve had her to vet so many times I’m quite overwhelmed. They’ve always said it was food but this vet believes it’s environmental. I’ve had her on Apoquel forever and don’t see that it’s helpful but vet changed her to non-chewable. I’ve got to put boots on her when we go outside but they’re too big so I will let vet look at that. She has been on antibiotics and a spray for staph and is wearing a cone. Vet said to give her 9 Benadryl per day as well. Her and I are in this together. My third pittie and she was a rescue. I’m thankful I am able to take care of her with so many issues!!

Be warned

Apoquel affects the immune system and makes a dog more susceptible. There are side effects that people don't mention and that is ear infections and skin infections "hotspots". I just had a conversation with the chewy representative today while ordering another bottle of apoquel. He noted that I'm on my 30th purchase and that I should get on the frequent flyer plan basically. I've got three German shepherds and they have all acquired the same allergies of extreme itching. Two of the three of my shepherds regularly experience hotspots and extreme ear infections during this medication. I have my own little trial lab. I'm currently considering the alternative to apoquel in hopes that I can cut down on the side effects that I then have to spend more money on for those occurrences. One of my dogs before all three got the same allergies was never given apoquel by one of my good friends that was my vet. He retired and I had to use another vet. He knew about how apoquel affected the dogs immune system and I can't remember exactly what else but it makes your dog weaker and you need to check its blood if you're on it regularly. I have the three dogs that require a full prescription per month and its the cost of a car so I'm going into the diet giving the farmer's dog dog food a try. It'll be pricey but no reason my dog should be popping pills everyday of their lives. But I'm glad apoquel is here because they need it every 24 hours. I could tell the time by their scratching
