Ametza Premium Compressed Bermuda Hay Bale Horse Forage, 50-lb bale

The only good part about buying hay is having a full barn for winter .Finding it, loading it , paying for it , schlepping it home, unloading it,hoping every last bale is edible and no haggling with the hay seller is needed to replace the bad bale... it was by far my least favorite part of 30 years of farm life! Well imagine my surprise when , after selling my farm and moving to a neighborhood that I would be in need of hay for my two sweet goats whose new home didn’t work out in the end. Goats, despite popular belief are picky boogers. I imagined driving my tarp lined car all over the hills buying this hay and that hay for them to try to see what they might possibly eat through the winter. It kept me up nights I tell you! I had little luck with compressed , bagged, hay previously with my goats, but I needed something straight away as I girded my loins for my hay finding mission locally, so I ordered a bag of bermuda from you out of desperation. THEY ADORE IT! While my delivery man is displeased with the sheer weight of my Chewys order I am most pleased with having a ready, convenient, hay source with out tarps and miles of travel that my goats don’t turn their little noses up at.

The product description states this hay is safe for foundered horses. I ordered 7 bales and used a hay probe to core and test for my insulin resistant horse. Equianalytical did the test. And the starch came back too high to be safe for these horses based on Ecirhorse.org standards. Unfortunately I cannot feed to my insulin resistant horse. I will post the test results in the pics. Definitely not safe for foundered horses (as listed in the product description).

HI! I ordered over 50 hay bales to keep supply since I have 4 percherons (massive 18+ hand drafts) 4 andalusians (around the 16 hand range) 4 mini donkeys (30 inch range) and 2 Lusitanos (16 hands) So I have quite the equine animals, please do this trick i ALWAYS do and recommend, soak your hay. It lowers the sugar content and ALL of the dust. ITS STILL LIKE NORMAL MUNCHY HAY, JUST WETTER WITH A LOWER SUGAR AND DUST CONTENT. its alot of work so to speed it up I hang all the hay nets at once (since I have a washroom indoors) and fill up 12 hay nets then drop them in buckets and let them soak for a good 5 minute, by that time all my horses are indoors and ready to go, then I hang them all up and get started with filling up there water buckets and make there food and clean there stall, since it'll be a little lighter then freshly taking it out of the water I carry it to there stalls and they all love it. Highly recommend!!!

If you regularly feed horses such a short cut hay it leads to impaction colic. However, this is fine for rabbits and other small animals. They came in good condition, I ordered 3. They are very dusty though. I wouldn’t recommend for birds due to dust.
