Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

How i know when the pills works, when the adults fleas or the eggs are kill

Answer by ChewyMar 18, 2018
This treatment works to paralyze and kill fleas within 1 hour, after which point you should see an improvement in your dogs' behavior and no more scratching.

How long does it last

Answer by ChewyOct 07, 2020
Advantus is not a flea preventative. Advantus can be used daily, as needed, for fast-acting relief from an existing flea infestation. A single dose of Advantus will kill the adult fleas on your pet. If your pet is re-infested with fleas, you can safely give another dose as often as once per day. It is designed for fast-acting relief from an existing flea infestation. A monthly flea preventive is recommended for long-term treatment and prevention of flea infestations.

This stuff works. But understand what it does so you don’t expect magic. It kills whatever bites your pet for a short time. If the home or bedding is infested they will reinfest immediately. The fleas have cacoons like a moth and they can spend weeks in them if you don’t repeat the treatment the newly hatched ones will reinfest you pet. Bathe your pet to keep the flea droppings down that flea larva feed on, wash and dry your pets bedding twice a week, treat your home with a good flea spray from online (you can’t get the good stuff at most stores they don’t have license needed to sell it), vacuum frequently and borax Landry soap brushed into the carpet helps kill the larva looking for food. No medication will stop an infestation in your home. If the fleas are after you too then your infested. Medications can help block the primary food source(your pet) and can keep the unwanted visitors you pick up walking your dog from living long enough to infest your home. Adult fleas are one to two percent of what you usually have. Don’t forget under the furniture when you treat. Eggs and food are on all you pest shed hair so the stuff that collects around you home behind furniture and all the places hard to get to feed the next generation on fleas

I was a little skeptical how effective this product would be because my dogs are very large and we had a growing infestation. My older dog is allergic to fleas and was chewing himself bloody and I cannot afford vet care at this time. The very first dose gave my older dog an upset tummy and made my younger dog pant heavily. 24 hours later I checked their coats before giving them dose #2, and saw significantly less fleas. Day 3, only saw a few fleas. Day 4, 1 or 2 fleas each dog and NO scratching or chewing, complete relief in both dogs. I plan on giving them the product daily for 2 weeks, then every other day for the remainder of the 30-day supply to save on cost. I signed up for auto-ship, and will continue for as long as it takes to keep my dogs comfortable. I am very pleased thus far.

I was hesitant when I read the side effects, but with all the positive reviews and the price (you get what you pay for) I went against my better judgement and gave them to our dogs. Yes they did work within an hour. You could see the fleas falling off and the itching and scratching slowed. HOWEVER within 48 hours 7 our of 8 dogs were being buried. This medication caused our dogs to get sick and by the time we knew, it was to late to save any of them. All 7 were buried in a 10 hour timespan. I should have stuck to my gut feeling and did more research, but I will make sure that no one else has to go through that horrible situation.

I'm giving it a 4 star only because I wish it would last longer and they wouldn't need a pill every other day, only one of my dogs will eat it like a treat. The other two have to have it mixed in can food and for having to pay as much for treatment of a 15 lb dog as you would for a 55 lb dog. Still, I have been so frustrated for so long with flea issues, it's a miracle to find something that actually works. Despite using herbal yard sprays, chemical yard sprays, herbal and chemical flea drops, herbal and chemical flea collars, I was not able to get the fleas under control. I've been splitting one Large Dog Chew between three 15 lb dogs for about 4 months, now. They continue to be flea free but I still treat them every other day. I'm going to try every third day, now that we are getting to the tail end of the summer. The directions do not approve of splitting but it just seems crazy to have to pay as much per 15 lb dog as per 55 lb dog. I would think the greatest cost is in the medication, not the chewy. Beyond that, I'm just so happy my dogs aren't scratching fleas, anymore.

Quick and effective

I saw a lot of bad reviews and was weary about trying it. I have a husky Samoyed. He had flea so bad and I couldn’t afford to get him to a vet to take care of it with trifexis, so I ordered these. Within that first day of using it, the fleas had cleared up. I have it to him for two days after to make sure, but one pill was enough to knock the problem out.

My husky is difficult to look at if she has fleas, but the dirt left in her fur says it all. I started with a medicine wich starts working after 30 days but I couldnt tolerate watching her scratch constantly, so I switch with this tablets, I'm monitoring how she is progressing with this med. I hope it works...my other two dogs have short fur so I'm still checking on them that the 30 days med. starts working on them...I can't afford the 100 some dollars med the vet recommended, though i tried it once, its Comfortis, ..now this med really works but i can't put my 3 dogs on it...too expensive, besides i have 2 cats on med too. I wish we can get effective choices at reasonable prices...this is hard to find, too much commercialization for pets owners.

So glad I gave this a try before spending almost $200 on flea medication through my dogs veterinarian. Gave one each to my girls (45lbs & 105lbs) immediately after opening package and about an hour and ten minutes later they stopped itching and biting their paws. Great product with an amazing price. Will definitely continue using on a regular basis.

Mickey's flea allergy is a horrible thing and I had been using a spot-on with limited success. Also, the spot-ons are toxic to cats and required that I keep Mickey and Scroedinger(his feline buddy) isolated from each other for 24 hours after treatment. This has not worked out well in our home. I took a chance on this(kind of expensive), but after a couple of days, I noticed Mickey not scratching nearly as much. Having treated the whole house with other products, I think we are flea-free for the moment. He wouldn't eat them, though - had to pry and toss. He thinks it's punishment, but he swallows them. I saved a couple of the chews to give him when we visit other dogs that may have fleas in order to prevent re-infestation. Seems to be working so far.

Great addition/back up to other treatmeants

This product is amazing. I use a topical flea and tick treatment for my dog - but because fleas are becoming so resistant to it in the midwest and were SO bad last summer, I bought a bottle of this and at the first sign of scratching or bites - I would give her one of these and they would be dead within the hour! These saved our life and helped get things under control when the topical's failed. However the topical's keep the ticks away and for the most part, the fleas - but when they find a way to bite anyways, they won't last long once this tablet is ingested and won't let a major infestation happen or having to double dose a topical within a month. BE AWARE: Yes, this is only for fleas and is a tablet that only works for 24hrs - but I just keep them on hand for when/if the other treatments weaken and I need back up. It is great back up! It really works, and it will kill any and all fleas on your dog. I don't feel the bad reviews are the products fault that the buyer didn't read what it is! If I could afford to just give this to my pup everyday, I would.

First time purchaser and will purchase again. We normally buy another brand of 'quick fix flea killer', but after purchasing this one we will continue with it. Pros: begins working within 1 hour; easy to administer chew and palatable to the dogs (my dogs love them); can purchase bulk of 30 pills for a great price (I have 3 dogs). Cons: doesn't last a full 24 hours (doesn't advertise it) as the pill can be given daily. Although it doesn't last a full 24 hours I still felt it was effective and did it's job. We had an infestation and gave our dogs a daily dosage for 5 days (along with house and yard treatment), so that still leaves us with 5 more doses for our pack of 3 dogs.
