He loved it. He’d lost his appetite with cancer, chemo, and heart failure. This got him eating again. He’s a Doberman and should not be on a grain free diet, and this is not affordable/sustainable. However since it got him eating again we’ll stay with it for the rest of his shortened life.

This review is for the Beef and Lamb flavors of the Acana Premium Chunks In Bone Broth. I have been a big fan of Acana for many years now for my pets nutrition needs and this product is one of our favorites! Our dogs have been eating Acana kibble for a few years now, but this is our first at trying their canned wet food as a kibble topper. I am especially impressed with the 85% premium animal ingredients and 15 % vegetables and fruit contained in both of these flavors. You know you are getting quality just by reading the label! Once you open the can you can clearly see the quality as well! My dogs love the big chunks of meat & vegetables and greens that can be seen in each of these recipes. It is obvious they love the taste as well! We would recommend this canned dog food based upon its quality and by seeing how much my dogs enjoy the taste.

My Beagal mix absolutely loves this food! He gets overly excited when he sees the can. The first thing you notice about the food is the veggies. It looks almost good enough for a human to eat. The meat to gravy ratio is great too! There isn't an overwhelming smell like with some other wet foods also. When you take a look at the ingredients you can see why pups would love this food. I feel good giving him Acana because of the quality ingredients. My pup is a Parvo survivor and as a result, he has some digestive issues with other food but he has taken to this one very well. No runny or frequent poo. Most likely because those quality ingredients. Funny enough even my cat's fight to get some! Acana has done well for this family and I can confidently recommend that they provide good quality for for your pets.

For the Premium price and my Dogs being sick was not worth it.

My Belgin Mal and Siberian Husky first started eating this food for two weeks, their coats was shiny and eyes clear. I was happy, but then i got some more canned Acana and both had bad liquid stoods, my Mal threw up would not eat it, had to discard the remaining food. Called Chewy to inform them. Went back to another brand.

After feeding a couple of days, one of my dogs threw up twice and lost her appetite and my other dog reluctantly ate it. Despite this being an expensive dog food, I threw out the remaining 6 cans. I'm not sure if it was just a bad batch or if it was something they didn't like. I will say that my dogs are not picky, though.

My dog is an incredibly picky eater - he turns his nose up at a lot of different foods and we often struggle to get him to eat his dinner every evening. We often have to switch it up and can't feed him the same kind of dog food or 'toppings' with his meal, or he won't eat. We've tried quite a few different options - but the ultimate test of whether or not he approves of something is 'will he eat it two nights in a row'. ACANA was one of the few things we have tried so far that managed to pass that test. The consistency of the food is a lot more liquidy/broth heavy than other canned dog foods we've tried, which we really like because it makes it easy to spread through his kibble and coat everything. Loki tends to just eat the canned food right off the top, or pick out the bits and leave his kibble behind but with the Acana food, the broth made the kibble just as desirable as the canned food itself. It's also great that everything inside the can is completely recognizable, from the veggies to the meat itself. It honestly looks and smells just like a beef stew! My only real complaint was that we had a few cans that the easy-top opener popped off without opening the can itself, which could be an issue if you don't have a can-opener lying around. Otherwise we (well, Loki) thoroughly enjoyed the food and were happy that we could have something our dog would consistently eat.

For an expensive, premium canned food, not worth the price

This canned food states having clean ingredients yet, the "chunks" are pre-formed, very tough to the point that I have to cut them up into smaller pieces, way too much gravy and apparently not tasty enough for my three senior Chihuahuas to finish. I tried the Puppy pate originally and they liked it. It's for puppies though and not seniors. I might try it again as a mix-in or topper but for all practical and financial reasons, I'll go back to making my own food. This canned food isn't "convenient" if I have to go through what I have been doing to feed three normally, ravenous pups.

My 14 pound chihuahua mix Ozzy loved this wet food. He’s a picky eater but definitely joined the clean bowl club the first time he tried it. The product itself seems high quality and must be very palatable for pups. There are large formed meat chunks and veggies in a gravy sauce. Almost looks like a can of stew you’d find at the grocery store. I’ve been using Acana dry food for Ozzy for a long time and have come to trust their product quality and nutritional content for keeping him healthy. This wet food seems right in line with that!
