A Better Treat Organic Freeze-Dried Pumpkin Organic Dog & Cat Treats, 1-oz bag

I was very happy to find a Pumpkin treat that doesn't contain any chicken, but this treat almost cost the life of my precious little girl.! It's not hard like most freeze-dry dog treats, it's very soft and sticky like a marshmallow. That little piece stuck in her throat and she couldn't breath. She was making weird loud noises and alarmed me to check on her (I was at the kitchen and she was at the living room). I was in great panic seing her like that, but was able to get rid-off the piece that stuck in her throat. I was SO LUCKY to be home that day, otherwise my little Pomeranian wouldn't be alive.! I don't recommend this product for any dog under 8 pounds. If you absolutely must give it to your dog, stay near them and make sure they are ok while chewing at it. I wish this treat was in HARD freeze-dry form. Maybe something this company can work on, in the future. That was a very scary experience.! I feel very blessed that still have Milly in my life and I'm going to be extremely carefull with her food & treats from now on.

These freeze-dried pumpkin chunks improve the quality of my cat’s bowel movements, and have been helping her stay at an appropriate amount of food for her weight instead of overeating. The chunks are easier to break up into dust/smaller pieces to mix in with her dry kibble. She didn’t immediately love eating them, but after a couple days she got used to it and now sometimes goes straight for the bigger chunks and eats them right away. Chewy delivered these to me super fast after placing my order! The only thing that would improve this product to a 5-star is if the manufacturer included a desiccant bag inside the pouch with the pumpkin, to keep them from fresh for longer. I did notice with the last bag that about halfway through or so the chunks were a little less crisp and didn’t break up as easily, they became a little soggier yet tougher at the same time.

I threw the treats away after I opened the package and got hit with a mold smell and dust in the face. Smelled like mold to me, but to be 100% fair, maybe freeze dried pumpkin just smells like that? Didn’t see any mold at a quick glance, but the treats were SO pale, so maybe light-colored mold would have blended in? And I wish I read the reviews before my husband ordered this, because the styrofoam-like choking hazard info would have been enough to make us not order these treats in the first place.

I fed these to my cat to help her bowel movements. I believe these gave her an allergic reaction because after a week she started developing redness around her eyes, started getting bald patches on her arm, and had lack of appetite. I normally do not write reviews but it got to a point where I had to bring her into the vet to get bloodwork and X-rays done because she didn’t eat for a few days. Nothing about her diet changed besides adding these to supplement. I’m only writing so other potential buyers be aware.
